Definitely gonna pick this up, and I agree with Gahlo that everything looks good except for the starters. These names are awful lol. I'm curious as to just how RPG-esque the game will be, the differences between Sword and Shield, how many old Pokemon we can catch (can we capture Gen 1 Pokemon? Pikachu was shown, but maybe just as a helper in the community?), etc.

I wonder what real life region Galar is based on. Looks European. Initial impression says England, including the shape of the region shown so far. And it may just be me, but I noticed that blue = sword and red = shield, which is reversed from the usual.

It should be england and little bit of Scotland ;-)

I kinda hesitated whether the snowy mountainous region to the north could be based on Scotland or maybe just northern England. Not really that familiar with the area.

Everything looks decent but a bit disappointing overall. Switch is capable and I was hoping for it to be more than Pokemon HD

Now that I've had some time to let it sink in(and watch it a couple more times), I'm less thrilled. While yes, it does look better overall, better camera angles, and towns at least look appropriately size, it still feels like they could be doing more visually. How are Colosseum and XD still the best feeling battle visuals in the series? Why are we back to garbage random encounters systems? Where is the following pokemon? Why does the map of the region feel super linear?

I'm giving the reveal a C. It's not putting me off from the game, giving me some things to look forward to, but there isn't really much that I'm excited about.

It looks like we're going back to gyms, which I like.

I just want a classic pokemon experience with a new line-up of cool pokemon. Gen 3 is still the best for me in that regard. Awesome stage 2 mons like metagross, salamence, aggron, walrein, flygon, blaziken, sceptile, gardevoir, …
Mechanics like mega evolutions and Z-moves aren't necessary imo, but I'm sure there'll be some new mechanic revealed eventually.

Am I the only one who doesn't really care what the starters look like? As long as the stage 2s are cool it's all good to me.

I am again contemplating on getting a Switch. It usually retails between €300 and €329 here (mostly €329, although at a certain point in time at release it would go for €289, but not since then)….Worten is having a sale for a couple of days where they sell the Switch for €329 and they offer SMO and MK8 Deluxe.

It seems like a really good deal (both games still retail at close to their full original sell price, in some other retailers they still both go for almost €60 each).

I've read a little bit more on the supposed upgraded switch for this summer and it is mostly battery and size related issues so nothing ground breaking as TL predicted! Thanks guys!

I'd wait a while, to be honest.

For the price of the switch with two AAA games, you can get the PS4 Slim with ten AAA games.

I just bought mine with one controller, Bloodborne GOTY, Dark Souls 3 GOTY, Dark Souls 2: Scholar and Dark Souls Remastered, all for 280 €.

I pulled the trigger last year for $270. It wasn't even a Nintendo nor a retailer sale, it was my credit card company offering 10% back to use their phone pay system, which I never used again after that.

If you game on a pc, Nintendo has the least overlap in terms of type of games represented.

I'm a big fan of this; a lot of the PS or XBOX games that I like are already out on PC, whereas the Nintendo games are so unique that the Switch is my go-to console for actual console games.

I'm a PC/Switch guy, but I do think PS4 has some pretty cool exclusives. Persona 5 might get a Switch release, but there's God of War, Spiderman, Horizon Zero Dawn and some of the games they showed at E3 last year looked pretty cool.

I guess you could argue that there are similar types of games on PC as the PS4 exclusives and there's nothing equivalent to Pokemon or Splatoon (well there probably are but nothing with that level of quality) and definitely no equivalent to Labo
