This thing will sell worse than Wii U. Not sure why anyone other than massive Zelda fans would even imagine buying this thing within a year of launch. Isnt Zelda also coming out for Wii U anyway? Everything about it is unbelievable expensive as well.

Put it this way in the United States a month and half before release date of Console Systems, Amazon would already be making plans of moving units to hubs to certain parts of the country to make sure of release date deliveries...

I thought we won't get a new 3DS and all their future handheld style titles will be on switch and its future iterations, pretty much making guys like me buy the switch anyway, not that I mind because its handheld + bonus big games for me, sure the initial investment is big but I won't mind if they deliver the handheld experience I've had so far with my 3DS.

Everything about it is unbelievable expensive as well. How is it unbelievably expensive? It's going to cost the same amount that XB1 and PS4 cost, it just won't come bundled with a game because it's a new system. People that would buy this only for Zelda are people that never bought a WiiU because a Zelda never came out on it. They won't buy one now for Breath of the Wild when they can get a Switch that has a better version of the game and the possibility of a 2nd Zelda title towards the end of the system life. Odyssey looks good, but that "real life" city level is pretty jarring to me. Gives strong Sonic '06 vibes.

My guess is that it's going to be to the 3DS what the original DS was to the GBA. Testing the waters with a new idea. If it works well, it'll supplant the DS-line of handheld systems. If not, they'll go with plan B of making a new DS system.

The Switch itself costing $300 (€300 in EU?) isn't too bad, it's a bit on the higher end but acceptable, in my opinion. However, they very clearly lost their minds on the accessories. $70 for a regular controller and $80 (!) for a Switchable one is pure insanity. $60 games are also a bit iffy, but again somewhat acceptable. I figured I might buy a Switch, but after this, I think I'll hold off. The prices are just a tad too steep for me to get into it right off the bat.

Everything about it is unbelievable expensive as well. Nintendo's unique position as both the manufacturer of the system as well as it's primary developer means that a system can potentially survive a lackluster launch. For most systems, a weak launch title lineup puts the system into a downward spiral, where without good titles, no one wants to buy the system, making developers less likely to make games for it, making people even less likely to buy the system, etc. Nintendo's position as the biggest game developer for Nintendo systems comes with its own problems, but it does mean that it's possible for a Nintendo system to get out of this rut. It only takes a handful of good second-party titles to propel a system to success. The best example of this is the 3DS--despite a pretty underwhelming launch, a steady flow of flagship titles built support for the system, and brought initially skeptical customers and developers on board. At this point the 3DS is the most successful system of the current generation despite it's hefty initial price ($250 for a handheld is arguably more outrageous than $300 for a home console) and poor showing of initial launch titles. The Wii U had some rather more extensive issues, and it became pretty clear that Nintendo was more interested in the growing support for the 3DS than trying to promote the Wii U as a platform.

Anyone who wants to play the new Pokemon, Fire emblem, Mario Kart, Zelda, ...., will eventually have to buy it. Good on Nintendo for merging their systems. I can live with a somewhat more expensive price if it means I only have to buy ONE new system instead of two.

525.37 Euro according to Google currencies. So even worse. Importing (without postage fees) is 352.49 Euro from the US, which is including 25% purchasing tax in Sweden.
