You can still check it yourself by entering 3 values, if that's not too much effort..

If the results were 100% accurate, this wouldn't be an issue.

It's not that big of a deal if you keep around some pokemon of different levels. Anytime there are two possible levels you can just compare the pokemon to one of a known level.

In terms of the fluctuation for a given level... it's typically like 5 percentage points at most and there's almost 0 cases where you're comparing two pokemon that are within each other's margin of error. If you are really min/maxing to that degree all you actually care about is 100 & not 100 then...

They changed the API to break bots and maps... and then 2 days later the Dev community figured a way around the block and they're back online now...

so what are the go to sites now, or is it that server you set up on your own computer?

I'm not aware of anyone setting up a site for public use... Seems to me that is just begging for a C&D.

I've got a map set up on my own server. But... with the decreased scan radius and rate limiting, its not as useful as it once was. Can only scan a very limited area.

Been unable to find where to dl these things. I would like to get a desktop scanner working

There's a public scanner for my area that's struggling to stay up, but it's also not 100% accurate in that there are pokemon that don't appear on there. There's a spawn by where I live that spawns at :38 or so every hour and it never appears on the scanner. Still the scanner helped me catch a porygon today so I can't fault it too much.

Honestly if you get a scanner setup the thing you should really be trying to do is figure out some of your local spawn patterns and stuff. Like I'm keeping an eye on a nearby diglett spawn to gauge it's frequency so I can go farm it some day (turns out it's pretty regular)

This is good advice. I've mapped the spawn times near my house and work so I've gotten in to a pretty regular routine of snagging some pokes.

I kind of feel like the spreadsheets are waaayy off when it comes to Gym battles. I've had a lot of luck with a couple specific Pokes punching way above their weight while training at gyms that are considered garbage tier by the spreadsheets.

There's a lot the spreadsheets don't account for. For example some specials (including many full bar ones which are good on paper) are easily dodged compared to 'weaker' alternatives.

They also don't account for type bonuses. For a lot of moves it actually (unfortunately) doesn't matter much because the DPS of the various moves is so far apart, but for other moves it can tip the punching weight of the pokemon pretty well.

Sometimes though it just doesn't matter... Some pokemon just have too low HP to reliably fight (looking at you Kingler & Magneton).

Before I got the game I was gonna try my best to grind out a good Magneton because I hoped he would be middle of the road good. Steel/Electric is a great typing for Kanto so reasonable stats would have been great for it. Shame his HP is just so bad

I know, even when the game came out I really wanted to do the same. Then I made a Jolteon and saw just how bad bad hp is in this game. But I have hope for a rebalancing since they did it to the moves.

All great points.

I just kicked the shit out of a 1100 Electabuzz with a 850 Cubone while training up a Gym. I was finishing each battle in the green. It was crazy. Type advantage isn't everything in this game, but it counts for a lot, especially when training gyms.

Just had a wild snorlax appear but I was busy catching pidgeys/weedles before that and only had 1 normal pokeball. Of course I throw it and miss, even though snorlax is fat as hell and covers half the screen. I waited a few minutes for my pokestop to recover but he was gone by then. Now I know how @Darkplasmaball feels

They do account for type bonus.

Dragon claw is better than hyper beam only if STAB (same type attack bonus) is active, and https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/4vx729/pokemon_rankings_cheat_sheets_gym_offense_gym/ there dragon claw is shown as a better special move, so they indeed follow type bonus.

STAB is not the type bonus we're talking about though. We're talking about actual type bonus (Super Effective/Not very effective). STAB is important, but it's consistent so yeah when they account for it it's always right.

So in that example Hyperbeam is once again better if you're fighting Fairy or Steel (not the most practical in this case, but sometimes it is).

Also I think this list: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/4wodzk/optimal_movesets_v21/ is more comprehensive.

Amazing new feature for the pokemon tracker....they added grass behind the pokemon.

After some testing, it appears that the changing nearby to sightings with a grass patch background didn't actually change anything. What did change is that your nearby list is constantly refreshing so that pokemon that are gone no longer appear on the list. This is probably a placeholder until a real tracking feature is completed.

Another great feature this patch added is the game loses network connection randomly for no reason.

Was checking IVs of pokemon and saw my level 19 oddish is 14/15/14 or 15/14/14. I really hope it gets a pair of Grass moves when I finally get enough candy to make a Vileplume. Need a good attacker for taking down the many many water types flooding my gyms

Wow such amazing patch!
Now if only my phone would work properly with the game, parks could be fun and bring a ton of XP.

Too bad for Pokeadvisor, it becomes hard to know which pokemons to throw or not throw...
