Gonna try to aim for 155 evolutions next time ! Force close app method while walking I guess? On which phone do you manage around 12s per evo? Yeah force close with favorited pokemons to evolve and iPhone SE. I'm still losing a lot of time because I have to manualy check evolved pokemons off the favorite list. Anybody have an idea to make this process faster ? Put a period in the beginning of everything you want to evolve's name. Then order by alphabetical.

I did some evolves today, here's summary:
The good: flareon - ember/fire blast - seems to be the best moves so I maxed him exeggutor - zen headbutt/solar beam - seems to be the best moves so I maxed him
The bad: slowbro - confusion/ice beam - deleted him
The unknown: dragonite - steel wing/dragon pulse - not sure what to do with this. It's got best gym defender moves, so if level this guy up to 3K CP and put him on a gym, will he be good at defending it? Or are other pokemon like snorlax much better for defending? gyarados - bite/dragon pulse - not sure if I should max him, I already have a gyarados with bite/hydro pump 2x vaporean - one got aqua tail, the other water pulse - not sure if I should max them, I already have a vaporeon with hydro pump
Is there any point to maxing out two of the same pokemon with the same moves? For example two vaporeans with water gun/hydro pump?

Entirely depends on your areas Gym meta. My area often has 3-4 Vaporeon guarding the tough gyms along with Lapras, Dragonite and splatterings of others. One good Victreebel can't beat 4 good Vaporeon so having a second would make sense (I use Vileplume instead of Victreebel two)
Vaporeon, and several others (Arcanine, Dragonite, Gyarados are the best example) are just defaultly strong enough on there own that having more than one for gym fighting isn't bad anyways.

but then the evolved state stays on top of the list and you have to scroll down to evolve the rest ?

I just realized I transferred out some low CP pokemon taking space that are very rare for my area... with the buddy system that means you want to keep those around if it might be the only one you see in weeks. Whoops.
In super exciting news... I CAUGHT A WILD DRAGONITE! woooooo. (1260 cp "Caught my attention 67%-80% IV" steel wing / dragon pulse. Not sure if that's the best but I'm stoked to have one :D Spent ten minutes going down every single side street around the area he was in. Fell off the tracker about six times and I gave up, went down the main road and then he popped up in the gas station! Had to have only a few min before despawn.

So I just hit level 28 (living in a major city, caught over 3.4k pokemon, hatched 166 eggs) but I've never even seen a dragonite or snorlax or lapras... what am I doing wrong?

snorlax and lapras are just rare, and i am not sure there is any known rhyme or reason to specific spawn places. lapras are, of course, at water, and snorlax i have seen in the middle of the city and at water. my advice for lapras is marinas with lots of pokestops. i have found three lapras in marinas (only caught one, other two were on radars, and we didnt feel like running).
good luck.

I've never seen Lapras either. Both times i saw it on my tracker I was unable to locate it before despawning and both times were nowhere near anything resembling a water source.
Snorlax is around everywhere (but still, super rare spawning). You'll find one eventually. Mostly just bad luck you haven't found one yet IMO.

Lvl 29, caught 4300, hatched 157, seen 0 Dragonite, 0 Lapras, 1 Snorlax, but it ran away xD
Got a Lapras from an egg though, and I live in Dratini's biome so I have a Dragonite since today. 100% IV and best defender moveset, fuck yeeeee.
Just need to get him up from 780 CP to max ..

Yeah the dragonite I found was at a gas station in a Midwest city so I think it's just rare rare.
|
Around here Lapras spawn semi-regularly (meaning like a few times a week) at a hot spot that's next to water, but that area also just has a large amount of spawns in general so it could just be because of that. Still it seems like that area in particular is specifically setup to spawn Lapras', though they also spawn randomly in other areas not related to water.
Otherwise for Snorlax & Lapras their spawns are pretty random, I don't think you'll find a rhyme or reason to them. Even if there is something to look out for, it would have to do with specifics of an individual spawn spot which you require you to really know the area to figure that out.

You guys are lucky. I Haven't even seen any lapras on my trackers ever.

sample size of 2 so take it for what its worth

interesting day. walked through SF for six miles and stayed at a squirtle nest for like an hour (total seven hours).
100% IV squirtle -> Blastoise with bite/ice.....fml (the squirtle didnt come from the nest, i went to get candies) 204CP magikarp -> twister......fml (highest cp i have ever seen, im lvl 28) 92% IV magikarp -> twister.... fml (i got 900 magikarp candies today so upgraded two)
i did catch a grimer though. last time i saw it, it just crashed my game every time it popped up on map. not sure how i got it this time. however, if i look at it in my pokemon list, it crashes my game (tested it three times). wonder what will happen if i make it by buddy.
dragonite up to 2900 though. =) so many dratinis in sf.

Wow that's a lot of candy.
Yesterday I was excited to hatch my third 10k egg and popped my second Electabuzz
|
I hatched one too and got my 2nd Aerodactyl.
After the buddy update I'll only need to catch/hatch Tangela/Chansey/Hitmonchan for 142 Pokedex, but that could take a while.

The feeling of getting a shitty moveset from a high iv pokemon has to suck lol
