Does anyone have let's go evee and are willing to trade for the 6 missing in pikachu / vice versa? PM ME! (i know i can easily do this VIA PKM go, but i don't want to play go again)
Im not sure if you were lucky with your request or not, but IIRC, the Switch thread had people talking about the game, maybe you can find someone to trade there.
Speaking about lucky, this morning went for a very long walk and caught a ton of mons from the previous CDs. Ton of Larvitar, Dratini (even shiny of both), Mareep as well….already had shiny eevee but caught a few more. A total of 10 shinies caught this morning.
Im only missing a shiny ponyta and magikarp right now :p

That's certainly lucky! I've been playing quite a bit (probably seen at least 200 pokes since the start) and have only caught 2 shinies so far and one of them was a Beldum and I got plenty of those on their CD.

Event's been making me a bit annoyed. Seeing everything in strong number except the gen1 starters, the only things I'm still trying to stockpile more of for evolution before the even is over. I think I saw 15 charmander from 10a-5p.
|
Charmander has also been a problema for me....mainly because I have yet to see a shiny of him xD it is not one of those that I want, but a friend really likes it so I'm joining his quest to find one. But still, squirtle is the one im seeing the least.
Im really happy about the research tasks as I hope to finally have ann articuno

It's been super rainy here so if I see a Kanto starter it tends to be a squirtle. What I'd do for clear weather...
|
I cant move for Kanto starters here, that's weird. I'd kill for some dratini/ltar. Mostly sunny here but still plenty of Squirtle.
Also stuck at work all weekend ehhh.

Final tally from this event for me:
5 Tyranitars; 3 Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise; 2 Metagros; and close to 800 Dratini candy.
Oh, and hit 50+k for thi's weeks ActiveSync or whatever it's called. First time.
|
My active sync rolled over at 48.6km while I was doing my morning commute-walk .
I ended up getting ~500 dratini candy and a similar amount of Tyranitar candy. My day 2 shinies worked out a bit better, but still not great. Ended up with:
2 Beldums (already had plenty), 2 Pikachus, 2 Larvitars, 1 Dratini.
It's not bad, I got 2 of the hardest shinies cleared up, but I was really hoping to get a Mareep.
|
Sunday was a wasted day for me as I was unable to play. Still, on saturday cleared all shinies except for the gen1 starters.
Ended with 2 ttars and one of dragonite, ampharos, venasaur, meganiun, typhlosion, blastoise and charizard each. Caught a few more beldum (even 2 more shinies to reach the count of 10) but did not evolve any new metagross, already have 2 very good ones (one shiny one regular).
However, besides beldum and dratini, all others are severly lacking candies for further evos or powerups. That saddens me as I dont see a new opportunity like this one popping up in the near future.
Will do my best to use this month's quest to find the gen1 starters shinies. Still, there is a local raid group where I am that has a lot of peope looking for shiny eevees….I have several….lets see if I part ways with any of them.
|
It's difficult to say how valuable shiny Eevees are. There's a lot of eevolutions which makes them desirable, but also makes it more likely there would be some future shiny Eevee opportunity.
|
Yeah, the nice thing about Eevee is that because of its recurring evolutions and all of them having a use for casual players, at the very least, is that they'll be an evergreen spawn so you're never even completely unable to grab a new one unless you're getting absolutely screwed biome-wise.

PvP is coming! So in summary, you can battle nearby trainers, and also your Ultra/Best friends. You can unlock an extra charged attack for your Pokemon with candy and stardust. Pokemon that fight in PvP will be restored back to full health, kinda like link battles in the console games.
|
CP limits are interesting and might change the meta a bit. Finding the best IV/level/mon combo at exactly 2500cp should keep the sim nerds busy for a while. Good movesets will matter a lot since they don't count for CP.
Or everyone who cares just does master, that's probably more likely.
Not sure about the extra charge move. Sounds like a one-time "pay a bunch of resources to buff your mon for this one battle" thing, and that would be kinda ass, but who knows.

Okay that's kinda cool then
Thinking about it more, if ultra takes off it could be really interesting, potentially a lot more mons playable. A lv 20 mewtwo vs a lv 40 ...idk hypno or whatever might be an actual choice now. I bet something previously useless will turn out to have an absolutely bonkers moveset and jump to the top.

Double RIP non-Shadowball Mewtwo.(aka, all of mine)

I think the lower leagues will be popular. They seem a lot more interesting than just working within the handful of legendaries that get high enough CP to compete. Though I think there's a risk that having low level pokemon with community day or legacy moves will be the best way to go which is going to be hard for a lot of less hardcore people to manage.
In some ways I think you even lose usable `mons compared to raiding. Gengar is a great raider because only DPS matters, but is probably completely outclassed by Mewtwo Shadowball when survivability enters the picture because of Gengar's poison typing.

I am still on the fence about this. On one hand, I will finally crush the couple of IRL friends who play the game xD on the other hand, unless these new mechanics change a lot, it will mostly be a spamming contest, like gyms and raids.
In other news, received my first invitation for an EX Raid today.

PVP is out and its pretty freaking boring. Unlocking double moves for any good poke that isn't Gyrados is prohibitively expensive (100 or 75 candy and 1000x in dust).
The actual battles are just tapping again with limited shields, which are just a kind of weak ass mindgame. Its just a source of "I must do this to get xx rewards daily".
|
It's definitely still spamming, which was always going to be the case until they add things like status effects, but if you stay out of the unlimited league there's at least some interesting mind games about who to bring in your party.
