Introducing the teams
Introducing teams ESV Tempest and ESV Widlfire! For the 1st time in ESV's long storied E-Sports work, ESV is now the proud owner of not one but two professional gaming teams in Heroes of the Storm!
First up we have ESV Tempest formerly known as Tempest Black. Consisting of many veterans of the alpha, this team has been a top up and coming team for a long period of time. With the additions of Toejamnearl and Nightmare, the team felt like a great fit for an ESV team. The merging of ESV and Tempest will be a strong contender for the ECS!
The ESV Tempest roster will be: Treble, Pithix, Pelleon, Toejamnearl, Nightmare
Next up is another team that looks to be a strong up and coming team is ESV Wildfire. The team did not have a name previously but contains players that every high MMR player has seen many time. Led by Pickles and containing such great players like Wargreymon, ESV Widlfire will be the team that will bring the heat!
The ESV Wildfire roster will be: Pickles, Poom, Bimbz, Wargreymon, Iakona
Next up is perhaps the most well known team in Heroes of the Storm, led by the top Heroes streamer on Twitch TV ZPs, Glorious! Gaming. Glorious also contains a name that will be dear to the hearts of old school Starcraft 2 fans, http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/CauthonLuck. This will be the team to watch, and has been a top team since teams even formed.
Glorious! Gaming roster will be: ZPs, Soma, Glaurung, Syracuse, CauthonLuck
Containing two of the most popular Starcraft 2 players of all time, Team Snowflake is the team that everyone will be betting on for the top spot. Led by the great SC2 player http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/LzGaMeR and containing arguably the most popular SC2 player of all time http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Idra, this will be an exciting team to have in the ECS Season 1. We are honored to have such amazing E-Sports players in our league.
Team Snowflake roster will be: LzGaMeR, IdrA, LiquidSheth, Faye, Keylax
Symbiote Gaming is one of the strongest teams in the Alpha. Led by former League of Legends professional player Arthelon, this team will be a real challenge for any team put in front of them. Look for the extensive MOBA experience of star player Arthelon and the impressive Sonya play of So1dier to propel Symbiote Gaming to the top!
Symbiote Gaming roster will be: Arthelon, Dreadnaught, Kaeyoh, madtimmy, So1dier
dISSENt is led by the well known Jexia. With a strong roster and much experience in the Alpha, they will bring the wildcard element that every league needs. Watch out for an unexpected team to come take the day!
Team dISSENt roster will be: Jexia, bLuFoX, cattlepillar, Dribblez, Insyder
A late minute replacement for the now defunct Excelsior!, Team 2ARC will look to bring the power of the underdog to take unexpected victories in Division II!
2ARC Gaming roster will be: Afewtrix, EvoLoNN, Keeeferz, Kero, MrJPickles
The final team is one of the big sleeper picks, Clairvoyant Gaming lead by Tsukii. Known for having innovative and cerebral play, Clairvoyant Gaming will be a team to pay attention to all season long!
Clairvoyant Gaming roster will be: Tsukii, Hocfoo, diggguy63, Dissent, Marche

This sounds hype! Maybe I'll have to learn me some high-level heroes and pick up the mic again in the future
EDIT: So... How is this going to work without custom games? Are they adding that feature soon?

I'm pretty excited. Go ESV Tempest!!!!

Exciting to see what this game has to offer.
Will there be drafting and no duplicate heroes? Or will both teams get to make whatever comp they want.

Yes will be a 1 ban per team draft system, format like LoL's.
|
Is there really a need for a ban given how small the hero pool is?

Hero pool size doesn't really matter, bans make drafts more interesting.

I have something exacting to announce! For the 1st week we have set up a very special North America vs Korea showmatch to kick off the broadcast with!
Week 1 will be opened by a special BO3 showmatch between Team dISSENt and Team No Limits, the team of former SC2 progamers from Korea! Watch old SC2 favorites such as AcE, Noblesse, sc, and CrazyMoving!
We are all very excited to bring you this special match and believe kicking off the Heroes scene with a NA vs KOR showmatch seemed like a fun and appropriate opportunity!
Reddit Thread of this showmatch!

Grats Diamond. This looks great!

Only 4 hours until the ECS begins! Make sure and check out our Reddit post here for more info: http://www.reddit.com/r/heroesofthestorm/comments/2ejr0b/when_this_post_is_4_hours_old_the_esv/
For Week 1, Excelsior! had some roster issues and was unable to play. They will be 0-3 this week forfeiting this week's matches. I am sorry for the fans that wanted to see these matches, but with a game so early in these types of issues are bound to happen.
We will be working close with Excelsior! this week to make sure we can assist in any way to fix this issue, however they have been informed that if they cannot complete a full roster for this upcoming week, they will be replaced by another team.
All other games are all set to go and I hope everyone enjoys the broadcast!

Hope everyone is enjoying the games!

Hey Diamond, really enjoying the games tonight! Unfortunately I couldn't watch them all. Are you going to post the results in this thread? Or possibly link to a results page? That would be awesome

Watched the Vod and it's certainly nice to see all the action with pre-made teams. The snowballing is a big concern though. With levels being the only resource, I'm wondering how you can even comeback as is. Anyhow, looking forward to more matches.
*Note: I'm just a spectator and have no access to beta.*
|
There is a come back mechanic in the game.
Once your team falls behind by.. I believe it is three levels? you gain more experience from creeps and kills. It allows you to "close the gap".
There really isn't much snowballing from my experience. It happens of course, but it's rare. You can win even if you're behind. To be honest, at the moment, the come back mechanic seems to be a bit too strong. Some people sometimes complain about the fact that winning (i.e. doing objectives, being ahead in kills and in buildings) doesn't give you a big enough advantage.
It doesn't take much to come back. I personally think it's great.
|
Honestly I think it's fine. From what I've seen in these higher-level matches even when one team has a strong early/midgame as far as objectives and kills are concerned, the other team is never more than one or two levels behind. When the late game comes around the losing team is generally able to utilize the comeback mechanic and generally hit 20 within a minute or two of the other team.

Is there a hidden MMR in this game? I played with a few of these guys already and i'm still in the 20's haven't been playing too long. Gonna tune in see what it's like competitively.
|
@Gentso There is (sort of) an MMR system in the game. No one knows the actual algorithm Blizzard uses, but someone has made a website that tracks roughly where you are on a "tier" system akin to other games: hotslogs.com
It's not super accurate, but it does the job for now!

Yes there is. Sometimes you see new accts vs high mmr when the players goes more than 6 minutes in the que. When you que more than 6 minutes the matchmaking more or less gets thrown out and it grabs whomever it can.
Hope you enjoy the event !

Haven't been keeping up with this. Is the observer interface private or accessible to those with the alpha?
|
Replays are available to anyone through a quick workaround. However parts of the interface are incomplete and broken which means we have to do some fixing on the production side to make it look ok.
|
dISSENt has dropped out of the ECS due to ongoing roster issues, I am sorry for all the fans! This late in the season a replacement would be hard to get and unfair to lunge head 1st into a 1-6 record, so the remaining dISSENt games will all be forfeits.

How long does it usually take for the vods to go up on youtube? ^^
|
Getting the VOD's up tonight, sorry for the delay!

Hey Diamond do you know who's going to be casting the finals on Saturday?
|
Dunktrain for sure, original co-caster backed out today. Looking at replacements.
|
Alright cool. I'll probably tweet the preview their way to see what they think.
|
So if this is live, how can the teams play while the server is down? Thanks in advance!
