I don't even know how you'd argue against Moon/Grubby/Sky who have been at the top of the game throughout their entire careers. I voted moon because even after over a year hiatus, he still remained competitive.
I voted sky because he blew my mind away as a human player , but objectively it's hard to argue against Moon being the greatest wc3 player of all time.
I voted ToD, and yes I am biased. He's a fellow Frenchman, but I always loved his play style anyway. He was one of the few people who could consistently beat Moon, so he definitely belonged in the top.
To be fair, Lyn is also a serious candidate. He had a long period when he dominated a lot of people and won a lot of tournaments.
I´ve actually never played WC 3 / TFT online... but playing Undead seems to be fun and it´s like the perfect race for me. Would you recommend to try TFT as a newbie? I know I´m too late but that game looks pretty good.

Hey JoeCool, welcome to the thread!
It's never too late to get into WC3, the greatest game of all time.
It's really not too hard to get into TFT and learn fast. Check out the OP, you'll find plenty of information. Go to the wc3 section of Replays.net (URL in the OP) and download some UD replays. Try to mimic the build orders, and try to understand why the players do what they do. If you have questions, feel free to ask them all here, we'll help.
UD is pretty fun, especially if you like nuking stuff!

Speaking of ToD beating Moon , I dont think any human player executed the mass tank strategy against NE as well as ToD did in this game

I really hate the discussion where is/was #1. Sounds like to be top5 is epzp and players that are 2nd and downwards dont deserve respect and everything. Pretty much the same in sc2 discussions.
For me: Grubby, ToD, Moon, Sky and Lyn are my Top5.
I'd replace Lyn with th000, because Lyn was always a number 2 (to Grubby/Moon). Th000 was a very clear number 1 at the end, regularly beating everyone.
just watched first game of Grubby vs Stephano in Wc3 in Seatstorycup. the casters are going totally nuts about how awesome this game is compared to Sc2. exactly my opinion

That's because its non stop fighting, total different dynamic opposed to a-move 20s fight that determines a game.
I've never played WC3 multi, but I very much enjoy watching vods of professionals. Now, with WC3 played at SeatStory - and apparently quite enjoyed by the audience - do you think we could have some kind of renaissance incoming? I'd love to have an opportunity to watch quality WC3 streamed to a wide audience.

Heh, 20s fights is being generous, or early stages of the game. At the latter stages of the game fights frequently take as little as 5-10 seconds to resolve. That's one of the many things I dislike in SC2, you just don't have any time to micro, especially considering the fact that you have to constantly spam new units, even during fights.

I agree with this. Personally, I like Moon a lot because of his creative and unconventional approach to the game, but calling him or any other player a clear #1 is kinda silly. There were many great players from different places and time periods during WC3 history and all of them deserve credit.
It seems the SeatStory Cup has given WC3 a little rise in popularity. It would be pretty funny if WC3 were to come back a little bit on the scene, similar to the way BW is coming back with a lot of pros retiring to return to their first game. I know I would enjoy it a lot if we were to get a regular SeatStory Cup.
That'd be a pretty ironic display of how good Blizzard used to be as opposed to now, hehe.
