Yes watching it live is definitely an amazing experience, especially because in fighting games, the opportunities for sick comebacks and/or intense situations where a single mistake costs you the game are common place. this effect is amplified by the live audience. Its just so amazing to see how far evo has come, from a small grass roots tourney to become THE global tournament for all things fighting game related. also awesome to see OG legends like james chen and seth killian become commentators. just gives me so much hope for esports as a whole. EDIT: also the other cool thing about attending live, i dont know if the twitch stream televised unofficial tourneys, but there are often money matches on the side in old school games like mvc2 where the pots easily exceed 10 grand easy.

He just has a high execution barrier which is why most players don't use him. He's not top5 imo ![]() No way he can steal a place in the Cammy, FeiLong, Akuma, Viper, Sakura / Yun top. He's good, don't get me wrong tho

At the end of this month is VideoXGames in San Maarten. Winter Brawl in Philly will be in August, and The Fall Classic, a new tournament put on by the organizers of Winter Brawl/Summer Jam/NEC/Final Round/ECT, is coming in mid-September.NEC is usually the first week of December.

Awesome storylines were formed throughout the course of three days, and it'll continue to remain the milestone for the fighting game community until next year. Time to set my clock for next year's event. Infiltration vs Laugh was so sick...! The whole mood in the room was really weird, and Laugh turned his back to Infiltration when he lost, and didn't even look at him.

The only comparison I can think to draw to give everyone an idea of the hype live is imagine a room bigger than the hall at MLG Anaheim 2011, more packed, and going more apeshit than that crowd during the KESPA tournament intro ceremony, and imagine that happening roughly every couple minutes on finals Sunday. Did the house mics pick up everyone chanting "Tee" every time Akuma threw an air fireball? Seriously, if you've ever even considered maybe going to EVO, go. Just go. Even if you're new to the FGC scene and don't know much about the games or the players, people will happily explain things to you. They'll open your eyes to something really awesome. The worst part is that for 3 days it's like heaven and then the last hit of the last grand finals, when everyone is going the most ballistic, and that's the end of the event for the year. The best part? You walk away with new friends, you walk away wanting to support your local scene, and wanting to turn up at other majors. For the most part you can say the same for SC2 tournaments, but EVO is in its own ballpark from anything else, SC2 or fighting games. I'm starting to ramble so Io finish up:: anything going on tonight or tomorrow? Any after parties tonight? Tomorrow I have to kill a bunch of time until a 10:30pm pst red eye.

Does SBO still operate? Or it doesn't have the amount of hype it should deserve because it's a Japanese tournament?

I've never jumped into the air so hard to cheer and shout that I flipped a chair before Justin's games vs Chris G.
