Have I been spoiled by the SC2 casters? Fighting games don't really give you time to explain things going on in the game and since it's only 2 characters to watch spectators can always see everything happening. They are adding comments on things happening but it's possible you're missing it without knowing the lingo.

I think James Chen is actually doing a good job doing play by play but when you have Mike Ross and Combofiend commentating you really will get alot of jokes and random talk in between.

It sounded really amateurish.
Anyway, the casters up now sound already much better

There's not much "professional" casting going on in fighting games, the closest you'll get to SC2-type commentary comes from UltraDavid & James Chen (who will most likely cast the finals). Combofiend and Mike Ross are more color commentators, though they do know what they're talking about, both being high level players. Enjoying their casting pretty much requires some experience from the fighting game community.

Which is, quite frankly, what people want if you have those 2 on the mic. Majors are simply on for too long to have serious commentary all the time.

I'm a newbie but I've seen Kenshi looks really strong. I always like it when people pick non-standard chars in fighting games. Kabal is more or less considered #1. Kenshi is in the next tier, along with chars like Kung Lao, Freddy, etc. He's very good. whatever happened to ermac being flavor of the month after release? did he get nerfed or what? There have been several patches which have changed balance, but there's also the evolution of the game to take into consideration as well. This is the most recent tier chart I can find: http://i.imgur.com/68dnV.jpg Sorry for the bump on an older quote.
But I don't know which character is in the A+ row, first one? I'm pretty sure I've never seen that one before :o Is it a new DLC char or something?

I might be alone in this, but I find most "quality" esports commentary incredibly boring. I don't need someone to tell me what's going on, I can see it with my own eyes.
FGC commentary is my favorite, since there's so much more genuine emotion and humor. It really adds to the stream and makes the viewer feel more connected.

Damn, blind MK9 player got eliminated. He did amazingly well though, only losing to two top players.

That SSBM caster saying "good stuff" all the time is pretty annoying
BTW seems like Fox is still as OP in this game

I don't mind the SSBM casting at all. I'm too giddy to even care.

It's human Cyrax. The human versions of the robot chars aren't just reskins, they are slightly different characters.

That's human Cyrax. When you choose his non-cyber costume, he has different move properties.

I really don't have a damn clue what's going on but I appreciate how quickly the matches move along.
