Mike Miller hurt his back in one of the games just from taking a 3 pointer. Not exactly a dependable body out there.

He may not be, but he shot 2 three pointers last night and sank both of them. Seeing as he probably isn't the most heavily guarded heat player, you would think he would get a few more oppurtunities to take 3's.
I don't want them to win, but it just seems that way to me.
Mike Miller hasn't been used all year really. It's kind of strange because he made like 7-8 3 pointers in the final finals game to clinch it for the Heat last year and he had a pretty good playoffs yet he has been riding the bench ever since. I guess Spoelstra has seen something off the court that he didn't like? Even the limited playing time he has gotten this year he has been fairly productive. I tried googling about this a couple months ago and the only thing I could find was this from the Sun-Sentinel:
Q: Hey Ira, it is surprising to me that I have yet to hear you mention a possible reason why Erik Spoelstra is not playing Mike Miller. Generally you and I agree on things and whenever I read your publications, we seem to see eye-to-eye. So with that, I pose this to you, which I have yet to read on your Twitter or written articles: I believe the Heat are avoiding playing Mike Miller not only to give him rest, but to see if they can find a cheaper replacement for him in Rashard Lewis, should the Heat be forced to amnesty Mike this offseason (which looks inevitable). I am sure someone from above (Pat Riley) is telling Spo to see how much benefit the cheaper Rashard can give them over the more expensive Miller. -- George, Toronto.
A: I have frequently mentioned the likelihood of Miller being amnestied. But there is no way the Heat, at any point this season, are going to sacrifice the moment for the future. The decisions are being made on what Spoelstra believes can help his team win now. Pat Riley has plenty of influence, but I doubt it extends to Erik's in-the-moment-decisions. Beyond that, Rashard has a player option for next season, so he could leave anyway, in search of more than his minimum salary.

Who are you talking about? Miller? He's average 6.9 minutes in the Playoffs combined. Also, he's made every shot he's taken against the Pacers (3 for 3, all 3pt attempts). So yeah, huh? He's only not shooting because he hasn't been playing. Frankly, I don't know why they didn't go to him sooner. His release is far faster than Battier and if you're not going to be able to defend West, put a guy out there who can stretch at the other end at least.
It's good to see a few people agree with me on Mike Miller. I mean give the guy a chance to sink 12 points in 4 attempts. He probably has a better shooting average then most of the players out there besides maybe Ray Allen, but Allen is getting pretty old.
I mean just put him in a few minutes try to get him a few shots then when he gets guarded harder take him back out. Rince/repeat.
I think it's rediculous that Hibbert got fined 75k for saying "no homo" though. The NBA is getting so rediculous, the refs have to much power with technical fouls. It's getting to the point where it's unbearable to watch at times.

Those are two separate issues. I agree that NBA can be terrible to watch on a fairly regular basis, but Hibbert absolutely has to answer for saying what he said.
Yea, dude is seriously injured and cant play D, why have him out there when you can have Ray Allen who can't play D, but at least can run off a few screens. Also Battier is a much more cerebral player, makes good decisions, good communication, good attitude, and can sustain a suitable amount of minutes without needing an entire games rest. Battier is clearly the best option of Miller, Allen or himself.
The No homo remark is the case of media PC-ness taking over. I am not sure how many people are actually legitimately offended by that. Jason Collins probably laughed at the joke. He also probably is laughing his way to the Heat roster as well considering how much they could have used him this series.

He managed to get open 3 times in 6 games, of course they are not ganna give him more minutes. shut down defense!

He's only played in 3 games this series for a grand total of 18 minutes (12 of which game in game 6 alone). You have an obvious lack of perspective...
I'm pumped as fuck for this game, nervous as fuck too.
on the mike miller topic, i always thought it was because of the ray allen acquisition. i love miller though...he's one of the main reasons we won the ship last year. clutch ass shooting. i hope he gets more playing time, he's bigger than allen i feel like he can get a shot off better against a big team like the pacers.

The Coach is never wrong, he knew miller doesn't have the ability to get any open looks that's why he's not playing, and he only got 12 minutes cause birdman was banned.

And you don't understand that he simply can't physically play at a high intensity for more minutes and not be a liability on defense and offense besides making a few open shots. Do you think that if all you do is sit in the corner and wait for shots you should be on the floor?
Also 3-3 doesn't mean you're gonna be 100% for the entire series just fyi. In most cases he'll average down to at best 50% in the long run.

Look, I'm not saying he has to be a starter and be expected to score 20+ but if you're thinking that he's incapable of playing more significant minutes then you're mistaken. Played in 59 games during the year and averaged 16-ish minutes. Given Battier's significant struggles shooting the ball, or the Heat in general, there is very little argument you can mount to say he shouldn't play more minutes. Battier has also been very ineffective defending West inside so there its not like you're trading a great defensive presence for a poor one...seems like at worst its a wash with a potential offensive upside.
Does anybody think that the Pacer's Jerseys blending in with the color of the court is in any way a detriment to their vision on the floor as they are playing? Sorta hard to see the other players, but I suppose it looks different from the angle a player would have on the floor.
