Can't wait for PoE to finally arrive, kinda interesting the pre-load is only 6GB if you consider the game is like ~20GB.
huh? Why would a game like Pillars be 20 GB in size? That's insane.

Hours of voice acting, most likely.

Which is same reason why BG1 came on 4 CD at the time where everyone else would fill up half a CD.

unciompressed bitmaps for all areas probably, thats also why its significantly smaller when downloading

Alright, seems legit. I'm looking forward to play it tomorrow.

So they're selling PoE on G2A.com for only $32 for the Hero edition. I've never used this site, and I've heard others call it a grey market. How untrustworthy is it? Should I not even consider getting it from them, even though it's over a $10 discount? Just trying to find a better price than through steam. I can't wait to play this game though!

The only real risk you really run is the new harsher measures on steam and other platforms for buying in the wrong region. I personally have only bought on kinguin but it is more or less the same. Buy cheap, sell with a minor mark-up. Just make sure the seller has a lot of reviews and good rating from that. See it as E-bay and similar sell sites.

Got my copy pre-downloaded, waiting for the green light. So far I have avoided almost anything on the net to avoid possible (even little) spoilers, so I'm curious what will happen when I launch the game. Part of me wants to be taken and submerged into the world like in the past with titles such as Baldur's Gate.

Yea thats' quite funny, I remember BG2 taking up like 2.5GB in size. It was insane for the time, I don't recall a single game taking up more than 1GB in space besides BG.

I'm curious. If somebody is in Seoul or Tokyo and given a choice, would it be faster to download and then uncompress or just download the entire thing? I can only dream of having that kind of connection right now.

steam uses some magic, and uncompresses the streaming download im pretty sure, i never had to wait after finishing a download.
However, preloads are also decrypted, which takes some time to decrypt at launch.
I havent spoled myself at all, only played very little BB and know tghe combat mechanics. Onlything i looked up was which companion classes there are, so ill probably make a party like this:
(fighter) (cypher) (Priest) Barb Rogue
Parantheses are the gamesfully integrated companions, 1 spot still left, might be chanter or maybe something ranged because i dont want to have melee overload. Might actually play the barbarian as PC.

Never buy games from steam, it's always a rip off. I've bought several games from G2A and never had problems. Usually there is a ranking for each seller, just make sure the ranking is good.

The spells available seem really boring compared to BG2.

In Sweden it would be faster to download uncompressed for a lot of people. The download often stalls at points for it to uncompress stuff. I only have a 100/100 line (free upgrade from 100/10) since I don't want to pay for faster, as you go up it should get even more noticeable.

So everyone is able to preload through methods other than the one suggested by Obsidian... wow way to fuck that up.
Cancelling my pre-order now, as far as I'm concerned now I wish I knew whichever payment method supports them least. I won't pirate because I'm not a cunt but I'm feeling like they can all get fucked for their lack of support right now.

Im a backer and it has activated just fine? Pretty sure steam pre load is working fine too? I'd suggest it's probably paradox if you bought through their store, and it's Obsidian who need the support.

Activated on Steam from kickstarter key from Obsidian. No Pre-Load, won't take too long to download so should be fine anyhow.

That's weird. Worked perfectly for me. Have you tried obsidian forums?

As mentioned, not an issue worth caring about. I got the game to my account, it just won't Pre-load.
Edit, now it works. Oh well.

Yeah I'm super salty, but I sent Paradox an email to cancel. That was an interesting trip down the google rabbit hole, the info to cancel is hidden in some support wiki thing.
Whatever, just ordered through steam and it's now pre-loading just fine.
