Oh my God SF4 Pool C... do only two people get out of groups? If so, this is a tragedy.

The letter mainly determines the time slot when the pool is played. Each number within a letter i.e C1 or C2 is a separate 16 man double elimination pool.

From the original pool, a winner and a loser advances to the quarterfinal pool which for winners is pretty sequential etc but a little mixed with losers. (E.G Quarterfinal Pool F1 is Winners: A1 - A12, Losers: C11 - D3) Where 2 winners and 2 losers advance to the single semifinal pool which determines Top 8 to play on sunday.

Heres the bracket if you want to see

Japanese contingent at EVO this year is HUUUUUGE:

Japan: daigo, tokido, mago, momochi, kindevu, haitani, mov, nuki, kazunoko, dogura, uryo, kyabetsu, fuudo, bonchan, sako, eita, itabashi zangief

Shamelessly copy-pasted from the SF4 subreddit.

Yep, looks like EVO is on its way to become the most competitive SSFIV tournament.

I'm not a huge fighting game fan TBH. I don't play them and everything happens to fast for me to understand what's going on when I'm watching. However, I just wanted to post and say:

Watch the EVO finals on Sunday if you can--you will not be disappointed. I don't think I've ever seen a crowd anywhere (not just in e-sports--I mean anywhere) get so insanely hype as they did during the top 8 of last year's EVO Street Fighter IV play out.The FGC doesn't have an MLG and an IPL and a Dreamhack there's really only EVO and it only happens once a year. But for this one event I think they actually surpass us. It's the one event that comes close to holding its own with our majors on things like production values and prize money but because it's the one big event that everyone in the world attends, if you win, you are the champion for a year. Do yourself a favor and see what that means.

I was in that crowd. Confirming that it got way nutso during sf4 and marvel top 8s. Was so insanely fun.
