hardly, the cars still a major part of how much grip the drivers can get on track... but that said, Alonso is on fucking form this season. He's been constantally fast and always aware of whats going on, he really is the most complete racing driver out there atm, and even with a car that looked like it would be faster to push at the start of the season, he made it work.
Really gutted for Hamilton, and the fact the McLaren can't switch on the inters at all is a bit of a worry... really hoping for either a full wet race or for it to be dry enough for slicks. Would love a full wet race though, they are so much more exciting and really push all the drivers to the limits... and also if it was wet it would maybe enable Button to do something from the back.
Though, the fact that Lewis is next to Maldonardo on the grid :/

Button starts 16th, Kobayashi 17th. What's happening? Kobayashi has a 5 pos. grid penalty, and qualified 12th, so he should start 17th, in front of Button (qualified 18th). Vergne qualified 16th, with a 10 pos. grid penalty, so Kobayashi should start 16th and Button 17th.

I would guess (but not entirely sure) that penalties are applied from the back.

Apply Ver penalty:
12 Kob 17 But 24 Ver
Apply Kob penalty: 16 But 17 Kob 24 Ver

McLaren being out classed by nearly every team with a budget.... shocking display. Though maybe now Maldonardo will get a race ban for Germany...
Really looking now that the real battle is between Alonso and the two RB drivers, can't see anyone else worrying them too much :/

good race, despite the Australian coverage trying to ruin it, always glad to see Webber do well
|
Glad that Webber won the race, cannot understand how appaulingly bad the McLaren is atm, the only point it had any pace was on full wets... what a joke
Martin Whitmarsh has to go if McLaren loose out to Lotus this season

all Maldonado got was a 10k fine.... guess he'll have to kill someone before anything is done...

So happy to see Raikkonen doing well. Hopefully his results this year will make him stick around for more, and the way Lotus is doing overall, I wouldn't be too surprised if they were in the running for driver's title next season :o

I think they are going to have to get a grip on maximising there race potential before they can do that, but there car is pretty amazing.

Actually Kobayashi got 10k Euro for his pit stop shenanigans. Maldonaldo got 25k euro and a 'reprimand'.
