They didn't need to make the playoffs to make their point.

They are old, but not done. They took a subpar Phoenix roster and almost took them to the playoffs. No one can overrate these guys.

Lin a legitimate MVP candidate? C'mon Cyric...

He's up there for MIP and has shown he's a starting caliber PG on an NBA team, but let's not overrate the guy too much here.

Should've clarified that I meant he was playing like one during that magical winning streak when Linsanity was at its peak. He was arguably doing something very close to what Nash did for his second MVP season (funny enough, with Amare as an injured teammate too).

Except that he had a huge number of turnovers in all those games. He certainly wasnt at MVP level, but yea he had a good run.

7 games is probably the minimum that i wouldve been satisfied with from the league. i wish it were 10 or more.

That vid is so low quality. search for "Malice at the Palace" instead

I think he's got a good chance of winning it solely based on numbers and massive popularity. A lot of people have Ryan Andersen as their leading candidate. For me, the MIP is Greg Munroe, his game is scary good. I think he could be an all-star one day not too far from now.

I feel like 10 is harsh because looking at past 10 game suspensions they've been for much worse shit like drug use, weapons charges, or brawling, and those are much worse than an intentional elbow.

It looks like a very bad hit, but ranks pretty low in terms of premeditation and intent to injure. Artest felt Harden and flailed.

Compare that to Carmelo's sucker punch. He should have been suspended a game just for running away like a little bitch afterwards.

The league is absurd and has no rules.

Bynum- 5 games for decking a guy in the midst of a play.
Love - 2 games for stomping a face nowhere near the play.

^The degree of punishment is always subjective and Stern does whatever the fuck he feels like. There's no "elbow to face = 15 game suspension without pay" rule or anything, so 7 games seems about right since he'll miss a few games in the playoffs. Would be funny if the Lakers decide to tank some games in r1 after going 3-0 just to have MWP ready for r2.

I thought Lin played too few games to qualify for the MIP. I looked at his stats, though, and he actually played 35 out of the maximum 66 games this year (9 before Linsanity began).

I doubt the Lakers are capable of sweeping the Mavs.

And I'm a Laker fan saying this.

They are playing the Nuggets, but yeah, it probably won't be a sweep.

Kobe elbowed Mike Bibby in 2002, broke his nose and got a ring out of it. You never know with the Stern roulette.

I don't know what 'being near the play' has to do with it. I guess NBA players are pitbulls and can't control themselves when they're playing.

And he didn't 'stomp' on his face. He stepped on his chest and hit his face with the top part of his shoe.

Being near the play is very important. Bynum committed a foul while preventing a basket, while clearly illegal, his play had some intrinsic value to the Lakers other than attempting to injure Barea. He might not even have been ejected from a 1980s NBA game.

If you tackle a QB in football when he has the ball its a sack, after he throws its, a penalty. What Love did is an ejection/suspension in the NFL, same with what MWP did.

Y'all see the Billy Hunter article? Not the one that's circulating the news, the one Yahoo posted but somehow's getting ignored:

Excellent, no CP3 tonight, we have a chance.

Edit: The only time this might even matter is if the Magic can somehow lose to the Bobcats today, which looks like it won't happen.
