Here's the model OP: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=272547 Or a random game, same thing though. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=285690 Mafia is an educated guessing game of epic proportions. The objective of the game is to lynch or kill all mafia members before they outnumber the rest of the town. It's much like a game of poker because mafia members are also part of the town during the day and may manipulate the vote to their liking. If the mafia at any time outnumber or equal the townspeople, they win. The town's goal is to lynch all the members of the mafia.

Some players accuse others randomly, others make massive posts to discuss things, some promote policy lynches, others claim Vanilla Townie and lurk all game. The only way to learn how to play is to a.) read old games and b.) Jump in and play. Worst comes to worst you'll flail around and get yourself lynched, but I guarantee it will be a learning experience.

It cannot be explained. Mafia is a game with a very clear objective and absolutely no cookie cutter way of making it. You have to draw on whatever resources you can, but in the end it is about behavioral analysis. How is this done? How can you read words and determine what somebody received in a secret PM days ago? Only thing you need to know is that it can be done, the rest is up to you! What GMarshal said is true, you cannot know how to play mafia without reading a game or playing one yourself. I am going to suggest that you play in a game yourself, you're going to love it.

Here's the thing, if you can't be bothered reading up on at least some of the information in that sub-forum, and maybe a few external sources, it probably isn't the game for you anyway. It's a great game, but be aware it does take some amount of reading/commitment.

It was actually 22/24 and 2/24 at the time, since tofu doesn't play mafia with us. Also kita raises a good point! People who post in this thread and then don't sign up are clearly scum!
