In the mad sprint away from the spawn when the server went live for the first time, I completely ignored the shops and town, and legged it off into the woods. I came across a lava pit in the middle of a field, which was interesting, and it had a couple of cows bouncing around it, so I pushed them in and got some cooked steaks out of the deal, useful! I knew I needed a way to stay safe, and gather resources, so I chopped down a lot of trees, crafted the basics (crafting table, sword, pick) and made a break for the nearest pit. I started bashing my way through the rock, and quickly came across a seam of coal which I turned into torches. At this point I hit upon a genius plan. I dug down through the dirt a ways, and started to replace it behind me as I went through. Noone would ever know! Lighting my way with torches I set up a small underground base with a furnace, table, and chest, and proceeded to dig deeper. Things were going well, and I had collected a fair amount of iron and coal, also coming across an underground spring (and several monsters that were swiftly dispatched). breaking through a wall I was met with the sight of a huge underground cavern, that promised untold riches and minerals! But first I needed stronger gear, there were a lot of monsters down there. I headed back up to my workshop. *thud thud thud* *blip* *thud thud thud* *blip* What the...? Someone was mining just above me! I prayed they wouldn't discover me, and sat next to my equipment, drawing my sword in anticipation.. when suddenly the intruder burst through the wall, and fell down into my no-longer-so-secret lair. Take that you devil! He won't be trying THAT again! (Authors note: He tried it again). The invader had a good amount of gear on him, including a nice shiny Iron Sword, and lots of Iron ingots. Thank you very much! When I climbed up the passage he had dug to explore, I discovered the bastard had been building his damn house on top of my lair >.> How dare he  The intrusion phased me, I no longer had unlimited time to explore the area, as surely he would be back soon. Maybe it would be wiser to offer him a temporary truce, give him some items back as a show of good faith, then wall myself off again and continue digging. Unfortunately as I was googling how to private message someone, the guy came back, killed me, stole all my stuff and ran off. Lesson learned! No truces for anyone :D TLDR: awesome server, soloing is challenging but fun. | ||

No, it was after the old server was left, we were barely 5 people with a good connection, I didn't lag at all. But he would hit me from 2 blocks away... | ||

Your sword has like 1 / 1.5 blocks range i think so 2 block could be the delay you get from europe. (even though it might seem like there is no delay) | ||
