It comes down to trust. BOON Control obviously has some relationship with NCSoft, and ArenaNet knew they could be trusted to keep their mouths shut. I'm assuming that they've been practicing on the demo build for a little while now, at least.
The high level Guild Wars players, such as those on the balance forum, demonstrated that they didn't really respect confidentiality.

This is nice. Such a shame I'll be missing PAX this year.
I always enjoyed Wheat's Weapon of Choice segments for Guild Wars 1 back in the day. I'm sure he'll do a good job casting for GW2.

GW Esports hihihi, if its even close to GW1 or WoW "esports"-wise i know enough

just yell about shit and everything will b fine

Hawtness. I know Wheat is looking forward to GW2 and he must love this opportunity.
|
Never played GW but this will be a good opportunity to look at it I guess!

So thats why he went to PaX guild wars 2 :D. I did NOT KNOW THAT THEY WOULD HAVE PVP O.O. MUST WATCH THIS. GW1s was the best pvp experience ever, GvGs and HoH <33333333333333333333333333333333333333333

I played the shit out of GW1. VXIX was a top 15 guild in Vanilla. I am the reason why they added UAX to GW1 (after relentless bitching week after week on the original Weapon of Choice). I always felt like GW GvG had a lot of potential as a bigger eSport game but there were some early realizations by ArenaNet that really stunted their ability to make it happen. They did make the right steps (obs, UAX, etc, but GW1 was certainly a stepping stone for them and I just hope things shape up properly.
From my understanding they are going to have some ArenaNet folks actually playing and helping teams build comps. I really hope some old school GW1 guilds do make it out there.

Been starting to wonder if you've even been thinking of GW2, Wheat, given how you've been taken so heavily by Starcraft lately that you didn't cast Quakecon last weekend and such. I don't really have time to watch your shows that often anymore so maybe you've mentioned it and I just had no idea. Glad to see you're keeping an eye out, though.
Wish I could go. PAX Prime is on my list of things I want to attend before I die I still want to go, but its sold out. blargh
edit: that said, if someone happens to have some way of acquiring a 3-day pass... let me know ^^
edit2: turn down volume. gw1 #pvp memory from oldoldold WoC. http://rigormortis.ytmnd.com/

Lol What game does DJWheat not cast?
|
damn I wanna see that, GW2 looks so badass, plus djWHEAT is a person that could cast anything and I'd watch.
|
djwheat is the Bob Costas of esports. I cannot wait to see how he casts a game that is not out yet.
