Unless you are going to play at something like 800x600 you aren't going to get 60+ fps when looking at smokes. Maybe not even without smokes. With a good laptop capable of running cs go smoothly, you should be able to get to get to a "high" rank, but that laptop simply doesn't have enough performance to do so.

Saw JW use it on nuke. Was basically top fragging with it too and buying guns for rest of his team while keeping his mag7.

Nuke CT is definitely cool too, but it gets awkward very quickly if you have to move around without good info. Also, there's something oddly satisfying in giving the enemy a knock to the helmet from longer range. Doesn't matter if you didn't do any real damage, it's still a headshot.

Heavily dislike the swag-7 / pump though, Nova / autoshotty all the way. You haven't lived until you've gotten a 5k charging down inferno banana with an opening nade and an autoshotty.

As long as the frames are above 50 and you sit suitable close in front of your monitor/laptop, it should be managable to play properly hue I have an Asus laptop. Intel i5 processor with Intel HD 4000 graphics and....pretty sure it's 8gb of ram. I'm not very computer savvy but pretty sure those are most of the relevant specs. For the game I obviously turn all my specs down to the lowest possible, enable multicore rendering, disable vsync and all that other stuff, and play at a lower resolution. On September 24 2014 01:48 Souma wrote: NihiL/znf: The issue is obviously what is "reasonable" to you guys. For instance, do you find it reasonable if you're stuck in GN/AK area, or do you need to be able to play at a high level for it to be reasonable? Having played with znf a lot, he can play at around an AK level, but his reaction time is booty and he would be hard-pressed to go above a certain level, and I think part of it has to do with his laptop. But hey, a lot of people are fine with being able to just play at AK level, so maybe a laptop will be fine. And I honestly think that while, yes, my laptop probably plays a decent contributing role, I myself have a LOT to learn before I get above AK wreath. So, yeah, I think I play at an AK level, but that's because I think my skill level right now isn't good enough to be better than that yet. My laptop might be a good reason, but I don't like making excuses for myself that way. I think it isn't helpful for my improvement as I player and I encourage people to still try to play Counter Strike competitively even if they don't have the funds to buy a full fledged comp yet. On September 24 2014 01:22 NihiLStarcraft wrote: Have you ever played CSGO on a 'proper' machine with 200-300 FPS and a 24-inch screen or similar? Because I have seen both worlds and base my opinion off of that experience. It's great that you managed to achieve to get to MGE with a laptop but when I talk competitive I mean to play at the height of your abilities. A laptop simply doesn't allow you to do that. If you switched to a good desktop PC with high fps and a big close-up 120Hz monitor maybe I'd be willing to bet that you would indeed jump a couple ranks up after a short transitional getting-used-to period. You make it sound like PC and monitor performance has nothing to do with how well you play which I think is not right. When did I say that PC/monitor performance has nothing to do with how well you play? I merely said it's silly to suggest you can't play competitive on a laptop when clearly you can play around your actual real rank as long as you aren't at stupid pings and stupidly low FPS numbers. Again, I am sure that if I get a better machine I will undoubtedly improve faster as I'll be on equal footing with people who double and triple my FPS as well as have much better monitors, but do I think that I'm massively inhibited, my real rank is MGE/DMG and that my laptop is the sole cause? No. I don't think so. I don't think I'm good enough to be MGE or DMG, and I barely would call myself an MG2 right now.

It's also obvious watching you play that you should be consistently playing at an MG2 level but you probably can't because of your laptop. You're definitely not MGE/DMG level but at the same time you're playing below where you should be. Whether that matters or not is up to you, but equipment is obviously a factor. Your reaction time is plain balls some times and I don't think it's primarily because you have the reaction speed of a sedated possum. Such awesome analogies Sedated possum haha.
