Two quick questions: I'm following the general consensus advice and have lowered my DPI settings from 1600/6x (woah was that twitchy) down to 800/6. Is it worth it to get used to an even lower setting? 400/6 or a lower 800/x? My mouse can cycle between 3.2/1.6/800/400 really quickly so it's pretty easy to come back to my default 1600 SC/general use setting. Also, I'm finding the item and case drop scheme very confusing. How do you guys go about getting good items? Do you guys open those cases? or just sell to fund future skins (or spring sale purchases

And about the cases, it's really rare to get good items, so unless you invest a lot I guess you have very little chances of getting back the money you invest in keys. You can open some for the thrill though, it's kind of fun You can also bet skins on pro games on cslounge which is pretty cool

I just like the fact that CSGO "pays" you to play a bit once a week. Adds up if you have smurf accounts from the CSGO sale which they end up paying for themselves in like 3-4 Huntsman cases.

This is the 0 cost way of doing things. (It has not paid off. I could use that money I wasted on keys to buy the skins I want, excluding any super rare expensive ones.) This is nice way but if you really want to make money to buy items, you should save up and purchase $2-5 weapons and use the betting system on csgolounge.com. I spent $40 on a Stattrak X-ray M4A4 and after trading that and using the money to bet, I have over $1500 worth of items. It does take a while though and definitely a lot of patience with trading (always trade up no matter what).

+ Show Spoiler + i suk yo dick fo 5 dolla! If you're planning to spend money directly (not going through csgolounge etc) buying skins straight off the market is the best alternative. Skins will be much cheaper in the long run (if not outright, alot of them are under £0.50 lol) to just buy this way since opening cases is £1.50 a pop and almost always give garbage. I've opened 4 cases and gotten nothing but £0.20 skins or lower. The more expensive ones are cheaper too considering getting them in a case is even harder. tl;dr - buy market, get what you want and for cheapz!

EDIT: There's this guy called Weed on twitch who opens 100 cases every Friday. I watched him open about 40 last night (couldn't stand the guy so I tuned out) and he got nothing useful from that. Considering that's ~50 Euros (?) for pretty much nothing, and him saying that last week he got nothing out of all 100, that's insane. He hasn't gotten a knife, for example, in the last month, that's almost 400 crates opened! Good CS:GO items are really, really, really, really rare. REALLY! Numbers like that make me never ever buy keys.

Whenever cases and sticker capsules drop I sell them (as soon as they gain some value) and then, instead of getting a key with that money, I wait for Steam games to be cheap and get them instead. Of course I get very few skins this way. Yesterday I got a nice blue rarity M4A1-S camo drop (the one from the Dust 2 collection) that I'm going to keep a hold of, though. All other white rarities or ugly blues that drop go into a Trade Up contract as soon as I get ten of them. EDIT: There's this guy called Weed on twitch who opens 100 cases every Friday. Game designers realised that they could milk much more money from people when they do it through random chances in strong boxes instead of selling the skin directly for a similar price that would equate to the chance it has to drop.

I just wanted to throw that in. The system can be used in very different ways and ranges from kinda fair to completly agressive milking.
