DDoS cannot be stopped by any normal person (you can drop the packets at a higher level). Once it starts you have to wait for it to be over (or change your IP).
Changing your IP depends on your internet connection. It can be as easy as restarting your router, or be as difficult as calling your ISP and begging them to change it (and they might refuse).
That said - you prevent DDoS by not leaking your IP.
Getting the target's IP can be achieved by multiple ways. If you click on a link the web-server knows the IP, so if it's my server I know it. Same applies to other server-client software (teamspeak, irc, ...). If you use a software which establishes a direct connection between 2 clients, both clients have each other's IP (Skype, torrent, chat stuff, I heard Steam Voice calls).
That said you can hide your real IP, if you route all vulnerable applications through a proxy and you will only expose your proxy's IP and not your real one. So your proxy will be DDoSed not your real connection. Depending on the type/quality of proxy you might not even realize that something is wrong. Worst case the applications stop working.
The big problem with CSGO are the community servers. Say you played on server X 3 days ago. Since it's client/server based architecture the server knows your IP, and - depending on your internet - you might be still the same IP. So if the server owner recorded it, he can still DDoS you from something he learned 3 days ago. Games like LoL don't have this problem.
In the end, you cannot 100% protect yourself from DDoS. The only thing you can do is being careful. If someone else uses your internet connection they also have to be careful.
Edit: To expand a bit. Say you have a 1gbit network. And you rent it out to 100 users, each having 10mbit. Now one of your users gets attacked by a DDoS which has the power of 100mbit. He and his 10mbit connection are way overloaded, while your 1gbit network survives the 100mbit one. So you look at all the traffic which goes trough and you can "drop" packets before they reach your user. Those rules can be IP based (if the attacker uses an amplification attack and utilizes a few powerful nodes), or packet based (size, protocol, port, ...). You can also probably whitelist traffic for the enduser (if you know what he needs).
This is basically what ISPs and server hosters are able to do (on a much larger scale^^). You as the enduser don't have access to this infrastructure.
I would assume big tournaments are in the talk with their hoster and those are able to react much faster to a DDoS (especially if warned).

Played with some eagle guys while ranking up the account I had bought for my sister during the sales and did pretty well (2nd best score), pretty happy

So, i tried faceit today. Seems nice, there are some toxic players, but most of them are helpful when you explain it to them that this is your first time and omg the teamwork...it actually exists there :D

First I had to struggle with the website because it was not loading properly and I couldn't find where to find matches and other various bugs. After talking with an admin, it came out that they used banners loading with the main page, that were being blocked by adblock...
And when I finally got into a game, my team was far worse than anything I usually get on the matchmaking. Absolutely zero communication, just people running around like headless chickens, and all worse than me at that. To make matter worse, we were pitched against a team (well atleast 4 guys with the same team logo) and they were quick obviously far better.
I dunno, I will try again but this first game really was not good.

how do i link my match score? there is a link where i can click on and copy it. but when i past it on browser it goes no where. steam://rungame/730/76561202255233023/+csgo_download_match%20CSGO-w9uTw-svJvm-akWCh-KpZXy-F3VTB
this game we got rolled, and I got kick cause i was trying hard. CS GO community can be so toxic at times. I was top flag before I got kick on both side, and they wanted to concede with 2 rounds left to play. I ended up dropping a rank cause I got kick.

Got to play vs hackers the first time today. Right as I hit nova masters too.
Jumping scout, jumping pistol, jumping anything all game long.
|
The funniest part is when you get accused of hacking and they ask you "How is the game fun when you hack"
Yeah it's fun when others are 100% certain you hack and you don't lol
|
if someone is hacking with aim bot they shouldn't be ranking in nova masters.

You seem to overestimate how good people are even with hacks. Plenty of them don't know jack and have their aimbots lock on to people behind walls they can't shoot, and then sometimes even when they kill the entire other team they don't know how/where to defuse a bomb.

I saw that this morning but didn't really understand it. It means that it will pretty much remove boosting. The higher ranks were filled with blatant spinning bots headshotting everyone on the map to boost other teammates (against money or skins I guess, so they don't care about bans). This update means that it will be a lot harder to boost people, as their ranks will be rolled back once you get banned (and you get banned pretty quickly with the obvious hacks). It probably won't remove the hackers that are more subtle about it, but those are already way better than the spinning bots that really don't let you any chance to play.
Sorry wasn't near TL for a few days Thx for the explanation.
