Just placed into Gold Nova 2, most of placements were against masters guardians, and I think my placements went like, 10W/4L
How shit am I, if I were to try to actually get into this game competitively. I used to play CS:S competitively, and placed second in a TWL but that doesn't really count.
Also, is there a generic guide for nade-spots now? The new collision models fuck up what I'm used to and I always end up smoking/flashing myself.

Me and my brother, playing from the same connection, frequently get random lag spikes that lasts for 5-6 seconds at seemingly random times. So far it has never happened on any non-valve servers. Sometimes it has gone days without it happening, sometimes it happens multiple times in the same round. What happens is just that the game freezes, we get the "WARNING: Connection Problem. Auto-disconnect in: 00:25" and then it resumes in 5 or so seconds.
Apart from the lag it's all fine, we rarely ping above 30 and I have neither loss or choke.
This is pretty much ruining playing matchmaking because we'll just randomly lag at times and drop rounds without us being able to do shit about it.
Does anyone else have the same issue or have any idea how to fix it?
Was playing the other night and 2 of my teammates spiked to 1k ping for rounds at a time. It was infuriating.

Also, this new patch! Nice! New maps, new skins, if only I stocked up on more super cheap doomkittys to resell
Ah, I thought it felt low. Considering most of my games I was still going like, 40-15 every time. O_o It just feels like everybody at my mmr doesn't know how to aim, or communicate, or actually follow strats LOL.
Also, shameless video plug, ace but no kit, made me sad.
Of all the aces I've gotten during my placements, the only one I got on demo, was a fail.
Edit: Even with no kit, if I didn't pace around like a retard and waste time I probably could have still had it. :S
The incoming prize money boon should be great for competitive CS... more teams, more motivation. someone needs to challenge NiP.
And recent updates have me wanting to reinstall this after reformatting a few months ago.. m4a1-s and other improvements sound great. Wasn't really aware they added a pseudo-competitive 5v5 mmr mode til recently... I should give that a shot, scrimmed/pug'd a lot back in 1.6, sounds like fun. Nice to see Valve actually seeming like they give a shit about this game again... I feel like FPS developers have been fucking things up for the genre for too long, nice to see that one company seems to be starting to listen.
Operation Bravo... meh... I don't want any new maps, balancing the existing ones should do the trick much better. But I wonder if it is profitable to play this, just because of the ridiculous prices crates achieve (especially in the beginning of their existence) and to finance opening more crates with that...
On September 20 2013 12:37 Lockitupv2 wrote: How do I stop putting money into skins? Every time I get a crate I just want to open it.
Sell the crate, for 4-5 crates you sell you can open one for free
Feel like I'm the only person on the planet who's had nothing but awful, awful drops/chest rewards. Have had 3 set's of doubles, and half the skins I've had have been SMG's which I rarely use. Not a single AK/M4, no pistols, no knifes. Really lame
relax, you are not. I feel like it is not worth it at all... especially looking at the steep prices for keys... I mean if you don't get a drop you like 0.40 euros for the crate, another 1.80 euros for the key and then you get an ultraviolet worth 0.03 if you have it already... so i just keep selling crates and opening new ones with the money

I have to disagree. From my perspective A was incredibly easy to take as T. 2 Smokes could shut down CTs and get you an easy plant without much trouble. Haven't seen the changes yet, but from the changelog they sound good. Especially CT stairs was in need of some cover.

Have they remade any of the classic CPL maps outside the normal Inferno/D2/Train/Nuke/Cbble core?
I'm thinking like Mill, Fire, Strike...
Strike is now called Mirage and part of matchmaking. Some leagues use a slightly diff version of Mill but it's not in official matchmaking (there's some small use in some leagues I think). I don't think anyone liked Fire enough to remake/use it.

That's interesting - Mill is probably the best map ever.
When was Cbble dropped? I was Cal-M/P seasons 8-12. I don't know if I remember Cbble being in at the end, but some strange things were (Mansion, Comrade_3rdroute, etc.)

You should. It actually works surprisingly well for being a matchmaking with random people. At least at the higher ranks, people often hold their positions as CTs, try to ECO togather etc. It is of course even better if you search as a team of five people and have mumble/vent running in the background. It has some disadvantages to manual PUGs where you can blacklist people you don't like etc. But it really makes up for it by being so convenient. Just press one button and then play a scrim.

Did they implement cross-platform yet?
Can the PC Master Race finally scrim against consoleFPS scrubs?
