Dominus isn't too bad, its his summons that are. He is doable around level 70 if you play carefully.
You want capped resists, 3K health minimum I'd say, obviously more for safety.
Kill the flame guy first as he does burst, then carefully isolate and kill the other two. When the miscreations spawn, isolate them again-- I recommend killing them more or less in the order they spawn. I believe they each have an agro radius of one screen, so its not hard to fight them 1v1.
Normal Dominus isn't terrible-- his slam is pretty telegraphed, his lightning dogs are as well (and if you feel good about yourself, its even tankable if you chug a Topaz (albeit rather risky). Kite around when he summons suicide bombers. His ascended form is a straightforward DPS check-- you need to kill summons while killing him. Corrupted blood is easily solved with a staunching flask.
Take a look at the thread where a guy documents his only magic items hardcore run. Dunno if he finished Merciless yet, but there's a great amount of information about boss mechanics there as well.
Well I did him as summoner in Cruel and it took me just 5 alt+f4 's and one heart attack. So I know his abilities pretty well. But I don't want to risk dying again. I already ripped 3 summoners in Merciless^^
Summoner is going to be pretty poor versus bosses generally speaking unless you do some shenanigans like Cast on Death + Montegul's and whatnot, you can farm Merciless Piety easily but getting to the point where you can do Dominus + high maps is gonna be hard.
I'm not snapshotting and didn't use CoD. It's no fun and gets fixed anyway. Got a 69 Trapper right now, who feels very squishy, and am playing the summoner in Standard with friends.

@ZoRoXo How do you lvl so fucking fast in Decent Champions? I play Scion as well and managed #43 last time. But my chat told me vromvromracechar had a lvl up all the time. One time it wasn't much more than 30 seconds apart O.O
Only character I've ever killed merciless Dominus on I was 85 and I almost rip'd. The rewards are terrible (rare 66 map from quest), mostly because he doesn't drop any item tier that can't drop in catacomb/piety which are 20 times faster and safer. Think his falcon punch hits for roughly 4kish @75 lightning res iirc.
As for leveling fast in Descent champions. I basically just stick to a corner, rushing trough the zones. Only stop for blue packs/big white packs, ignore everything else. You often meet an exile early on, and if you don't have a weapons upgrade from the epic sword you start with, it's a huge waste trying to kill it since they tend to run away. Also make sure you pick the epic helmet for prismatic 3link sockets
I start full clearing from stormy ledge unless I feel under leveled at some point.
does that mean you do the storm herald merveil boss? how do you do that. i find her too hard.

I disagree, BM spectres are still very effective against bosses even without CoD. Of course they will die very easily to hard map bosses like map piety/dominus but those are dangerous for any build. Everything else is a walk in the park, and you don't even need good gear to do it.
However it sounds like the OP was struggling with them in cruel - summoners are weak as hell prior to merciless, you really shouldn't be leveling as a summoner.

They are good, but Dominus having 2 x 3 uniques and a bunch of blues and constant summons means your BM spectres will more that likely die unfortunately.

they are also buffing summoner with a direct damage spell, 2 buffs and a spell that makes more corpses so you can get a lot of fresh zombies
What do you guys think of the new spells?
The skull skill seems pretty meh, it could be okay.
Descrate seems the most interested to me by far, but not from a summoner aspect, i'm hoping it doesn't have a cooldown (or at least a cooldown can be bypassed like flicker/coldsnap) because he listed in the spell description that it does chaos damage, which would make it the first spell that does chaos damage, opening the possibility for some super high dps build with dual void batteries, or low life RF PA, or crit stacking without having to worry about reflect. Hopefully the base chaos damage will be high enough that it is a skill worth using as a primary DPS option.
The other two corpse consuming ones seem pretty meh, the effects would need to last for a really long time and would have to be extremely usefull to even bother with it. (Afaik summoners already are pretty tight on gem slots as it is.)
I really don't think these will probably have much of an impact on how summoners are played because they already are pretty tight in gem slots between minion links, auras, curses, and whatever else you already wanted.
Is there any way to solo torture chamber or temple map bosses as a summoner? My summons are pretty strong against everything else, but die instantly against those 2, then i'm left naked and alone

Damn it. My LA ranger has just reached Merciless and the game is hard. Doing docks farming because thats pretty much all i can do with 1.5k hp and non-capped resists. I do not have a 5L either(SEA POE) so im running a 4L LA/LMP/Chain/Mana Leech.
My char is 65.
POE is hard. Didn't expect my LA ranger to be this hard to gear up when i geared up my ST scion so easily.
If you have problems with resists when starting merciless, doing merveil runs is a great way to get some gear. 60% cold is enough to do her super safe with 2k hp, and if you portal outside cavern of wrath you can do her really fast, as there is a waypoint right after her. 20 runs are about an hour if you have decent dps, and the gear from her should last you until you start thinking about maps

You only need cold res capped for act 1 (the only exception is I think the exploders in cavern do fire?), lightning res for sins and chaos for snakes and fire for the fireball skeletons and explosive arrow guys at bridge, and then by the 2nd half of act 2 you should aim to have all three res capped. Before that though, feel free to swap through resistance rings to stay capped to the most usefull res.
I found cold res useless after doing sins, yet a must have in act1. Are there any cold damage mobs between the skele mages in act2 and lunaris? There are the statue archers but they don't hurt that much, mostly slow
