Well jade flasks are better than granites if you have like +% evasion from passives. The thing is, IR removes your bonus to evasion from Dex so you have to put skill points into evasion passives for that to help. At that point the armor passives are just better since they increase everything not just evasion.

I'm curious how granites compare to jades when you factor in Determination versus Grace though. More armor pretty strong, but I have no clue how much flat evasion Grace gives now.

Then again if you're using IR then that doesn't really matter, but I find it hard to justify now without the %DEX nodes.

I don't see how the auras make a difference... Unless you are not IR. I've been toying with the idea of a pure evasion build but I'm just not convinced that I can end up with THAT much evasion end-game. Jade flasks certainly help but I'm still a bit dubious.

Apparently grace starts at 395 evasion and goes up roughly 80 per level (level 20 is 2016 evasion). Thats... rather a lot

Given that you need 150 dex to run grace lvl 20, and you get 2% evasion per 10 dex... yeah you can get some very real evasion numbers now I think.

3k eva from gear (this is probably high but w/e)
3k eva from flask
8K evasion base
Perfect "of iron skin" roll (except the evasion one)
300 dex = 60%
100% evasion from passives (this is EASY you can have way more)
Hmmm this only rolls to about 29K evasion I don't think that is so high? what am I missing

There is also the problem that playing without being stun immune is super terror. I guess you can always just use eye, but ^_^

OK but that doesn't magically get you to like 50K or something which is a (completely arbitrary) number that I thought might make this viable.

Dodge them stun hits :3

PS you'd get acrobatics with any build like this I think, so theres that.

No the 100% is rolled into the multiplier at the end.

its 8k * 3.6 (base 1, 1 from flask, 1 from passives, .6 from dex). I'm pretty certain thats how the mod works.

The 100% increase works on all your evasion; not just the flask. It is included in his figures. I think your 50k estimate is also way too high. I think some of the tankiest armor builds were floating around 30 or 40 armor pre-patch.

There is also the endurance charge imba factor though. The damage reduction from endurance charges is a lot better when you're armor based than evasion.

They really made this game a lot better since closed beta 2 years ago.

I`m playing a Shadow right now, trying to make a dagger/dagger + lightning build. Pretty fun although I can tell it`s not exactly an optimal build at all. Just using mostly dexterity gems right now as I don`t have much use of lightning skills so far.

I accidentally took the +30% evade skill before realizing it also halves my energy shield, which I had been planning on building up. Oh well.

I'm not sure I understand the logic behind the slower projectiles gem currently. First off, I cannot think of any skill that legitimately wants it other than spectral throw. Ice shot doesn't crit any closer to you with slower projectiles. None of the bow attacks benefit from slower projectiles. Spells universally want faster projectiles or don't care about projectile speed apart from being able to hit stuff. That covers basically all the projectile things.

Next up, the cost. Why is faster projectiles (the far more desirable one) 110% but slower 140%?

Also faster projectiles starts with more free projectile damage (although I'm assuming this scales slower, wiki data is incomplete). I mean, slower projectiles is definitely a gem I could see NOT levelling once you have your "ideal" projectile speed. Having the damage scale might not even be good

Basically the gem feels incredibly narrow (Point Blank Spectral throw or literally useless).

I was shocked by how far level 1 faster projectiles made spectral throw go. I'm worried how short it may be with slower proj, especially as it levels up. I guess you can't really know without trying though.

The other thing is that the PB gem is fairly underwhelming (120% mana multi, lower attack speed until level 20, although quality can get u 15% damage, no other bonuses). And if you take the passive, what are you doing for AoE?

Reasonable except that trash mobs you should just be blowing up anyway and most bosses aren't at an HP total you can stun even with all the threshold reduction since it stacks diminishingly (post kripp abuse rofl). Also at that point just be ground slam since you get more stun reduction

Well the distance for Point Blank actually resets when the weapon turns around so it wouldn't be that bad. I don't plan on using increased projectile speed with my AoE anyway though because it already goes a full screen. I don't see why I would want it to go even farther when it does more damage when it comes back ^_^

Right now I'm using Heavy Strike for single target which feels really underwhelming and ground slam isn't really a single target skill. Does AoE damage ^_^

I've heard that PB resets when the proj turns around but I'm assuming it just looks at YOUR position again not the position of the projectile? So if you move in closer then the returning hit would do a lot. I wasn't recommending increased proj speed for AoE I was merely saying that with PB passive I'm not sure that the standard proj speed will do much damage at the "sweet spot" aka right about max range. Probably needs a lot of testing. I forget how far stuff has to be for PB to suck.

It should be the location where it turns around. It has to do with the origin of the attack and when the projectile turns around it creates a new origin point.
