Anything that specifies a melee attack does not work with spectral throw. Melee physical damage is a melee attack so it doesn't work. Heart of the arena increases melee damage range so it doesn't do anything for spectral throw. Increasing the physical damage of your melee weapon does work. | ||

Yes, if the node gives damage to, say, swords and you use swords for Spectral Throw you do get extra DPS. Also works for 2H weapon damage nodes. I assume it works for 1H weapon damage nodes too. It only does not work with nodes that affects MELEE DAMAGE... because it's classified as projectile :S I wonder if Spectral Throw works with Fork? | ||

How are elemental attack builds in 1.0? Is ele Cleave just a leveling thing now? What about elemental bow builds? Did Spectral Throw make bows obsolete? EK vs FP, what is the better build to start a new Nemesis char? | ||

Elemental builds might be weaker, since it's pretty difficult if not outright not possible to run wrath + anger + a defensive aura now, whereas before for example with a LA character with blood magic keystone you could run wrath + anger + grace for a very little amount of health. The damage on the auras is improved though, so maybe you won't need to run both. Elemental cleave is probably waaaay weaker. I played a physical cleaver and after the patch I've just changed him up into a double strike + melee splash build, cleave's damage reduction is apparantly multiplicative now and the penalty is applied to elemental damage as well. Spectral throw is a very interesting skill, the damage on it is pretty nice and it can hit mobs multiple times and it's just really fun to mess around with. I wouldn't say it would make bows obsolete simply because it isn't really similar to rain of arrows which only bows can use, and while bows + 2 handed weapons now can get higher tier damage affixes, you still can't use quivers unless you are using a bow. For starting a new nemesis character, I just kinda winged it and did whatever, I was leveling a double strike multistrike scion since I got a quality double strike and a multistrike drop, but died to dominus since I tried fighting him solo and blind. Big mistake, one of his moves can really catch you off guard and it killed me. Spectral throw + LMP + decent 2 handed weapon seems really good for leveling at the moment though; the damage is pretty good and it's fairly safe. With regards to EK vs FP, I honestly would go FP if you are planning on making a freeze pulse character and not just using FP to level. If you level a Scion you can get -LMP from normal weaver, -faster projectiles from normal gravicius, -faster casting from cruel weaver, -mana leech from cruel gravicius, -and life leech from cruel hailrake. -added chaos damage from cruel library quest -GMP from merciless library quest The library quests in each difficulty pretty much made it so that the only gems that are drop-only now are portal, empower, reduced duration, and slower projectiles. | ||

Played it on nemesis at lvl60 in fellshrine. 2.6k dps with cleave, WED, Faster attacks, conc effect. 3k life, strugging with blue packs. Pretty disappointing. Pre-patch you got almost 2k dps for free trough the 2 inner forced aura if you have fast weapons. Now you lost a lot + can only run 1 damage aura since you need purity when you hit merciless. I guess eventually if you reach endgame a good physical corsair with elemental rolls can make avatar of fire + lava lash decent, but reaching that point seems impossible atm. So I decided to just jump on the op throwing sword skill train. I haven't played FP in the new patch, if anything it just got buffed a decent amount with the scion nodes. And FP has always been very solid, but nothing amazing for leveling. Have no opinion on EK since I've never played it much. | ||

Equip the best bows/quivers you can find, use rain of arrows, get some bow damage and focus on life on the tree and you'll cruise through normal until the very end of it. Get the Iron Reflexes keystone near the Duelist. The very end of Act 3 will probably pose some issue, but only because it poses an issue for nearly all builds. Also: make sure you play in one of the new leagues, preferably Domination so you don't get booted to Standard when you die. A lot more players are playing in them than the Standard/Hardcore leagues. | ||

First time I looked at that passive tree was a little overwhelming haha. I'm trying to build a duelist similar to the monks from Diablo 3, loved that class...didn't care for the game at all, but PoE is proving to be MUCH more enjoyable and at this rate will definitely warrant a few playthroughs... working on a blood magic/LA build based around Reave, then maybe whirlwind once I get it. It's been fun so far! We'll see how it works in the later stages. | ||

Cast on damage taken + Molten Shell + Enduring Cry + Decoy Totem and you can finally use all the "annoying" skills without annoyance, lol. Pretty much OP if you ask me, you never have to cast anything anymore. I think with that I totally need to pick more Endurance Charges... ^^ | ||
