That dominus fight, not sure how some classes get through it on cruel. 1.6k armor max res 2800 life + 4 endurance charge, granted I only almost died once, but it was close heh. Used catalzyed hallowed life + catalzed hybrids, does so much dmg.

I had completely forgotten about his game. I thought it was released a year ago. That was at least the last time I read a lot about it and heard reactions from people playing it. I guess the hype died down a little since then. How big is the player base compared to a year ago?

It throws for 60% of your melee damage, and is a projectile. So nodes with +%Melee damage increase it's damage by only 60% of their value while +%projectile damage nodes increase Spectral Throw damage by 100% of their value. Obviously +melee damage nodes still work normally on other melee abilities (you will need a singe target dps ability).

Is there any actual confirmation on this, or is it just pure speculation. What about the 2hand critt nodes in the templar area, do they work? They are specified as melee...

Well I'm quite positive about this information because a) the tooltip seems pretty clear to me and b) Kripp and Etup both use (used, I think Etups Spectral Thrower died at 70+) Spectral Throw builds with massive Sword and Two Hand nodes clicked.

Probably not that many. In Kripps stream some of his mumble companions complained about 90k+ queues to get on the server.

edit: Seems I'm wrong. Confused Physical and Melee ><

Haven't played in a very long time. Game is much better now! Anyway, I'm still very rusty so I'm looking to make a very standard build for my first come back character. Stun builds viable? Not looking to do anything fancy, probably just ground slam + stun, endurance on stun, mace nodes, etc. Or does that require a great weapon at all times?

I'm playing on the new softcore league, and I'm noticing some nice changes. Less HP nodes, more hp per level, and hp merged with damage and armor.

The melee dmg nodes dont work with spectral throw. The nodes the other throwers are using are "% phsyical dmg increased with (2handers/daggers/swords whatever). The melee ones don't scale at all.
I had heard that the dev for the game said there are at least as many not using steam to play.

Playing a thrower, according to the build Kripp is doing except starting at Scion. LagLovah gave me the basics.

-IR +Unwavering available to us.
-BM
-Defensive/Offensive side to Marauder tree
-Multitude of 2H and Weapon nodes.
-Going up north to Ranger+Shadow

I can only assume end-game will be all your skills linked to BM gem, and then find a 10% reservation node and run 2 auras for 100% mana consumption. Wherein you will spec out of those mana nodes in the Duelist tree.

It'll be down to going up north to Marauder+Temp tree vs Ranger+SHadow side. Both seem more than viable.

I think the ranger side of the tree just isn't good for spectral throw. Like, wrecking ball is nice but its so many points to get 41% phys and 12% attack speed and it isn't really near anything good.

If you go towards marauder and then up to templar I feel like you have better selection on weapon-specific nodes, easier access to hp, more STR for your iron grip, and easier access to "the best notable on the tree" aka Purity of Flesh.

Plus resolute technique and extra endurance charges if you want them.

IR is only good if you can run grace now IMO, which is tough considering aura costs, and in general the duelist section of the tree just doesn't feel optimized for 2-hand non-melee builds

E: I feel like something akin to This will end up being the "core" of most spectral throw builds. Nearby are weapon-specific nodes for EVERY type of 2hander, more life (this is already at about +200%), static blows if you do lightning dmg, Resolute technique if you have accuracy issues, 3(!) endurance charges, basically all the "good stuff" that you may wish to get.

PS the Attack speed start from the scion is 5% attack speed and 2% ms per node, plus 6% cast speed (for curses or w/e). I feel like its a good investment of 5 points.

Interesting, I was more favouring the right side. Purity is not a big deal, Thick Skin exists (18%) on the right side.

Was planning on getting Fitnesse-->Hoto-->Ballistic Master--> Charisma. I agree with you on the Duelist tree, the defensive passives there aren't too awful though. +Ice Bite is there, 30% Cold Dmg+Hatred works well together.

My only concern is lack of Dex if you go too far left, Throw, LMP, FA, and Hatred/Bear Trap is all dextacular. Then on the right side lack of life+survivability is a concern.

I'll admit i've had to dex up my gear and grab a +30 dex node so far, and nowhere in my build do I see that alleviating. I'm not sure how good bear trap is going to be for this though since that got a very large damage nerf with 1.0.

PS My build is also less than 15 points away from 31% aura reservation reduction, which seemed like a viable route to go as well. I think you could run 3 auras with that plus reduced mana gems. Maybe.

Actually, looking at your tree I think I'd prefer approaching ballistic mastery from above as a viable way to get dex and aura reservation. :O. (As in take my tree and go get that from above ).

This is where im at in my tree right now, I feel like you spend alot of travel points to go left, I was heavily considering it for a while. If you plan to go swords or axes theres plenty of nodes on the bottom of the tree to use. Right now I am using spectral/lmp/faster/added fire. Eventually id likely replace added fire with lifeleach and use blood magic, with 3 auras likely. Purity is only a 40% aura and with a leveled reduced mana you probably only have to take 1 reserve node. Purity/Grace/Hatred or Determination probably.

Hasn't IR lost most of it's appeal with the aura change? I feel like people overvalue it by a lot just because "it's always been op".

edit: I think the right side is interesting because of point blank, the ranger start is interesting because of the availability of ballistic mastery without being forced to go through primal spirit/heart of oak. On the other hand the Scion start gives you 25 attack speed for 5 points (harrier).

If you are set on going swords then the ranger start or simply the right-hand side of the tree is legit. If you are NOT using swords, I don't think its justifiable but thats me.

Anyone got a good build idea for Scion, I'm thinking of going RoA but it seems kinda all over the place.

I like IR because I can get unwavering with it, which is always useful, and since you use mostly green links in spectral, it gives you more armor options. I don't want to be the guy with 500 armor and 1400 evasion in a map

What colour is Slower Projectiles?

Either way, I feel like spectral throw uses Throw, LMP, Added fire, then any of Blood magic/Life leech/Faster attacks so thats like 2 or maybe 3 green sockets. Not that hard to get in armor-bases. I'm not even sure what else you would use. Point blank and Iron Grip are both good gems but probably better to just get as Keystones really. Faster projectiles ruins your damage. Slower projectiles (probably) ruins your range. Added Cold/Lightning/Chaos are probably just not that much damage.

I mean IR is OK if you are right there I agree but it doesn't feel like a key part of many builds. Mostly because grace went from like 200 mana/life to 60% ROFL.

Just finished normal act 3 solo on Nemesis without too much trouble. The only things that almost ripped me is that unique burrowing worm thing and Dominus global DoT (went into the fight without looking up his abailities). Overall the new areas were very enjoyable especially the final fight. Interested to see how well Cruel and Merc act 3 will go

Did you come across that lightning-trap unique boss shortly before dominus?

I have 1k life max lightning res and I can't even approach that guy without insta-ripping

There's also the new evasion flasks which apparently are quite a bit stronger than granite's if you went IR. But it probably isn't as mandatory of a node as it used to be. Still I expect ill be using grace even at 60% because it gives a crazy amount of evasion
