Just 2 regular skeleton blue packs, I desynched 2 times in a row, went to about 10 hp, tp'ed out to heal/refill pots (had large pots aswell) went back in, killed about half, then got pulled back twice into the leftover pack somehow, and got owned.

In solo races templar is really hard to set up, you need a jade ammy, 2 ele one handers, whereas with duelist you just take whatever.
At this point I'm really just waiting to have some good RNG again, I've gotten RNG fucked almost every race in the past 2 weeks and it's getting more and more frustrating (most pissed off I was after the descent in which I made top 10 overall, despite having the worst rng ever, not a single ring until I got to the chest at lvl 16). Templar cleave can do insane damage with good rng, so I just need that one race where I actually have good rng and I think my practis with templar will finally pay off. But yeah no rng, solo templar sucks ass.

Still cant be as bad as the time I had to kill Merveil with copper and rusted sword and 0% cold res a could weeks ago. Was some of the worst race RNG I have ever seen. In retrospect I almost think I should have muled a witch to get blue gems so that I could vendor my iron rings for sapphires probably, but that just feels weird.

Believe it or not but I actually had to do that one time. This race just now was another shit rng race. I'm actually giving up on ranger outside of descent. You can't compete with cleave if you go RoA and everyone is muling cleave for ranger these days.
I actually had a conversation with boof on the forums and he said the same thing. Bow ranger has the inherent disadvantage of having less useful items drop than cleave. A cleave ranger always has 4 potential upgrades (just base items) on the loot table whereas a bow ranger only ever has 1.
So mathematically speaking your chances of finding an upgrade are 300% lower than they are for a cleave ranger. I mean I died at lvl 21 with a rare short bow (which is a lvl 5 bow) and never found an upgrade. This isn't even a statistical oddity, this is just bow ranger in a nutshell.
So it seems that my choices in solo races are ele cleave templar, duelist or cleave ranger. I think I'll just switch to templar, only solo races I'll do with ranger from now on are gonna be descent races because there you actually get upgrades frequently and currency in chests.
I've never been a fan of playing the odds and the fact that every other ranger is muling cleave honestly makes me just want to switch to templar. Bow ranger is so much weaker than cleave ranger and I don't think it's possible for them to fix it, unless they somehow quadrupled the amount of bows in the game, otherwise cleave is just always gonna be superior.
Even Pam, the only other ranger I know who still goes RoA outside of descent doesn't stand a chance vs. Cleave, just look at the leaderboards for this race, everyone except Pam does Cleave. It's absurd.

You can find the brackets on the pathofexile site. The brackets are however quite small, divining would at max give a small upgrade, and if the rolls are on the high end already it might only make it worse. You basically have these options.

I had absurd HP gear this race and two quicksilvers. Safest I've ever felt in a turbo. Even got 1st fairgraves (a very late one). Dahrak must have had MS boots and cold gem from level 1. I wish Chris had struck him down for me with splitters in Sins or something.

Just downloaded this game and I'm playing it for the first time. Just made a Duelist, I have no idea what I'm doing and that's very fun :D any tips for a begginer?

yea,try just to have fun and experiment with builds,there's no way in hell you can wrap your head around all of the stuff that's going on in the game all at once,just take it step by step
if you wanna play hardcore i'd recommend reading up on a few builds

When/do you do the Hailrake quest in the 105 minute turbo races as Duelist? I feel like in a record setting race you would have 2-3 quicksilvers and MS boots drop so you dont even have to go do the quest.

I made 7th overall, second time going templar. Seems like I'll just stick with templar from now on, it's so much easier than ranger. Running dual quicksilvers on turbo is just so much more fun than getting frustrated over garbage drops as ranger.

Used to do it as soon as I hit ledge wp. By that time you usually have close to full slots, or at least in the most important defensive areas. Only died there once at lvl5 with full inventory (rng gun rng)
There's also a slight chance that quicksilvers drop before you get to the wp, so that you can skip it entirely. Dual quicksilver is really nice to have, especially in coves, or when you have good enough gear to 2-3shot stuff and keep moving constantly, but I'm not really sure if it's worth going back for it if you're lucky and get one before the wp.
It's amazing to have on the run up to Vaal, and it's decent, but not necessary on the fight itself. It's nice to have if you have to run trough the ice or dodge adds projectiles if you're low on hp, but the first lightning beam hits you no matter what. And the slam is very dodge-able if you just run around him until he casts a spell.
I stopped doing the quest after watching Helmann do dual wield cleave in a race, he even went leap slam as dual wield (leaping over a cliff might be the only possible way in the game to lose the boss firewolf in prisoners with a leaper giving it turbo aura on turbo), still lost hard to 2hand leap slam though.
And I'm pretty sure even with 3 quicksilvers and MS boots you can't actually keep up with leap slammers farming wise.

Yeah, pretty much. I'd like to play other classes, but I just get frustrated playing them when I get garbage drops. At least with duelist cleave no matter if you have completely garbage rng, like using start swords until brutus, you still get to progress.
I even managed to kill turbo Vaal with a unlinked 240 dps dual strike with relative ease once, when I normally have about 375 linked when I'm at him.

Yeah that's very true. I think Duelist has it very easy gear-wise, I think bow ranger is probably the worst when it comes down to gear, Templar cleave is alright, but you still depend on some rng, need a few ele dmg rolls on gear and a transmute for a jade or lucky jade drop. Not complaining though, after having played so many frustrating solo races as bow ranger I really had alot of fun playing cleave templar today, it's so much less frustrating because you actually don't depend on gear even nearly as much.
The other option for solo races would be cleave ranger, which doesn't need alot of gear either, but I would honestly rather play Templar, especially on turbo. Dual coral ring just makes progressing very easy, since you don't have to use a single iron ring for damage really.

I died around an hour into the 5 hour CT race. I was around 25th overall and 3rd witch. I was solo, so I got rather quickly once I reached act 2. I did manage to escape three attempts on my life within the last two minutes before I died which was rather funny.
Also, I bought 2 shav revelations for 5 ex total in anarchy.
