o_O the only people who ever expected smth from england are english people convinced rooney is messis equal, nobody else ever predicts a strong showing from england in international competitions.

yeah by people i meant english people, the rest of the world has more sense
we haven't seen Norway in any recent euro or world cup, yet they are ranked 12th in the world. But then again, England is ranked 4th and fifa ranking is a joke.

indeed, any ranking system that doesn't have the current world/european champions at number 1 is hilariously bad. the guy that does the elo ratings site has ratings that are much more accurate

No one in england is convinced he is messi, because Rooney actually preforms for his national squad unlike messi. All joking aside, he is clearly in the top 5-3 players in the world, the frustration comes from the fact that england have had a very good side on paper for almost a decade now, but due to bad managers and a lack of team play and some bad luck have failed to do as well as they should have. Let's not forgot that before last year they have always finished above 10th in the world cup since 1994 and always got past the group stage, more than can be said for France, that despite winning it and coming close to winning it twice in the past 10 years have also done much worse than england some years. There is a reason fifa have them as the 4th team in the world (although that is over-rated).
probably top 10 in my eyes(ronaldo messi iniesta fabregas easily better).Youre right about the consistency though, they always get past the group stage and get eliminated pretty fast, making them an average team consistently.id rather win it once and be runner up once than being in 1/8 every time. as for england being 4th in fifa ranking.....quoting fifa ranking usually isnt something good to to prove a point.(id probably rank them as 12th or so)

That elo ranking is interesting. Funny that the all time high of all nations is held by Hungary, their team was incredibly dominant in 1954 before losing in the finals to Germany.

How is fabregas better than rooney? In what world?
So a man utd fan would have bias over which player was the best in his team? whaaaat? Who in the utd squad is better? and also apart from messi, ron and xavi/inestia who is better than him in the world?
P.S. as to your edit, thats just rubbish, there are arguably better players at being traditional "wingers" than messi, but thats not the point, hes still one of the best players of all time and clearly the best player in the world, also what if the top three players in the world play the same position?
When vidic is fit hes the best centre back in the world
alongside the 4 you've mentioned i'd say Ozil, Vidic, Tevez, Suarez, Snejider, maybe Busquets, Villa, sanchez, E'too if he was still playing in italy, even forwards like di natale and cavani I'd rather have in my team than rooney

So sanchez who has one cap for barca, lol, Tevez that was outscored by Rooney consistently, Snejider that had one good display of form, Suarez (this is the point when i realize your a Liverpool fan) who has potential but hasn't preformed well enough or long enough to be considered even top 20 in the world atm, E'too is well past it, Villa is overrated, but quality yes. Ozil is the only player in the same bracket as rooney, and even hes only had one real good season so far, time will tell. Its hard to compare a center back with a striker/playmaker but yeah i guess vidic could be argued to be better on previous form but not at the moment, but we are talking current form.
