Nice dealings once again by Harry.

Hah never even considered Delap with Crouch. I just get this image of Delap hurling the ball straight at Crouch's head while he stands there and watches it bounce of his head into the goal.
Arteta and Benayoun were what Wenger was left with. That's what happens when you leave the transfer business to the last few hours. Kaka was there for the taking. 90mil buys you some serious firepower. I think we can get a team made out of this, but does anyone seriously consider this a step up from Cesc and Nasri? 4th is the outside hope of what we can achieve with this team.

Arsenal need to pick some targets for the midseason transfer window and make sure to acquire them. If nothing else than as a signal of intent to show the remaining high quality players that they have.
Striker is solid and I think their defensive signings were adequate. So they should go after an attacking mid and a holding mid, no?
|
The players that Arsenal signed all seem to be solid and established, but not title challenging players. So I can just see them somewhere in top 6. They still have decent young prospects but besides Van Persie anybody world class
|
Kaka or Hazard for me. I remember Hamsik was also mooted, a decent enough choice. Def mid, not sure - M'vila? Rodwell, to have some more English talent in the team and make sure they have enough to satisfy the homegrown rule?

real madrid may want him out but his wages would still be gigantic and a real breaking point in any deal, especially when compared to arteta who took a paycut to join them
also crouch is fucking shit and spurs fans should be jumping with joy to just have seen the back of him
|
Yeah his wages are the only thing that might be a sticking point. Amazed Arteta had to take a paycut to play for a Champions League club - a sign of why Arsenal fail to keep their best players...?
Also Crouch isn't the best player. He also has a tendency to get goals.

lol did Arteta really take a paycut to join Arsenal from Everton?

Ya from 70k a week at Everton to 60k a week at Arsenal.

lol fabregas won like 2 trophies and scored some goals in a few games...he must feel extremely good atm.
|
yea when your notorious for never ever entertaining the thought of paying over 5figure sums then you wont get much better than benayou and arteta. band aid solution..you cant lose Fabregas and Nasri and replace them with those 2 I mean COME ON>..
I like Mertesacker though.. that having been said his inclusion means they need to really stop playing that high line, hes going to get butchered.. a more efficient method would be to have a Vermaelen (please get fit for gods sake) or Kosceilny (puke) play the more aggressive centerback while he plays his way which is very traditional..
I really really hope they do well though its really sad to see this happening but Yea Id say theyll give liverpool some stiff competition.. Champions league qualification being the most realistic objective is a pathetic fall from grace..

Just got back from Ullevål Stadion. Norway played decently, with a ridiculous amount of chances, but the Icelandic keeper was terrific, and too many balls got cannoned into the seats. Finally Carew got a breakaway around the 85th minute, and the keeper fouled him in the box; Moa take the penalty; 1-0; gg.
But if they had such difficulty scoring against a surprisingly compact Iceland team, I'm super worried about the game against Denmark next week.

Bugger me Germany and the Netherlands scare me....
But I'm sure you fear our almighty England right? Right?
Yeah I wouldn't either. As long as we don't embarrass ourselves like we did in South Africa Look forward to a gg next year.

But that's only the first time I've seen the Spanish team brawl against anyone else. Usually the players just reserve their anger for each other :o).

Iniesta squaring off with Vidal started it.
