Like certain drugs are prohibited etc. Fouling as the last man is prohibited as that is a straight sending off but a cynical tackle is just part of the game. Perhaps my take on the word prohibited doesn't match up to yours, but I see where you are coming from because otherwise when you foul you get bonus points ?

Tackles by definition are efforts to steal the ball cleanly away from the player, which are under football rules. If you add "cynical" its a complete different term, it implies its an unsportmanship tackle that's over the top with potential leg-breaking consequences. Thank god there red cards are 'part of the game' too, otherwise it would be madness.

If you know you aren't gonna get the ball so you just block/trip the guy. No intention to hurt

Shit like this is why fights at the end of games happen -_-. No i'm not saying it's just Messi's fault, giving an example. I think referees should enforce fair play better and not let players do this.

Im not to surprised, Messi has been on edge in Barca Real games for a while now.. or in general Barca-Mourinho games, If I got kicked around all day theres only so long I would just get and keep playing..

Well, that's funny because Messi only received 4 fauls on the whole game. Maybe that's too much for you, but I have to disagree. If you put aside Marcelo and Mourinho's behaviour, RM did nothing to deserve the "fouling" bullshit. 18 vs 19 fouls according to the match stats. RM pressured up the field to deny Barça's play and it worked in both games. Of course, when you play that way you make bad tackles because you arrive late sometimes, EXACTLY the same happened to Barça where Xavi got booked and Iniesta and Alves should have also. Nothing to blame, just part of the game. I hate so much the Marcelo incident because without that we would be talking about football, and in those two matches one team was better that the other in that matter. Im tired of the black and white crap, theres no good and evil in this story. Both have their lights and their shadows.

The one thing that feels sour for me is that fouls like the one Marcelo did may injure people, and badly so, and given the history with the the games from last season, I for myself really start to expect some kind of official reaction from RM/Mourinho. Maybe I just missed it, but it is really about time that Mourinho says something like that too harsh fouls, and especially too harsh fouls in the 93rd minute at the middle line, are NOT what he expects of his players. For me it's just the feeling that he approves and that's something which is hard to swallow.

It is the bane of a "controlling" team that the other team may resort to fouls (as happened in the encounters of RM/Barca at the end of last season), which is not great, but, well, it's part of the game. He'll probably bench Marcelo like he did for the first half of the barca game until he starts to control his temper because he wants to play the whole game.

I just watched the recap of the games but I really need to point out pepe's attempted tackle against alves where after a cross or a corner he runs up to alves and goes in really stupidly (without ANY chance on the ball whatsoever) he is so reckless I really don't like tackles like these completely pointless without any tactical reason behind it I mean he didn't really hit him, but this can end so ugly (like some of the Arsenal players have experienced) edit: Ronaldo earned some major bonus points in this game for me of how he reacted in the end of the game when the quarrel started (as well as Iniesta I think) both standing there watching the fight and thinking....not again

How stopping a counter attack after a corner kick is not a tactical reason? When the centerbacks are in attack position? Pepe is too aggresive for my likes too, but he is just another football player and not the psycho killer some pretend.
