They dont have the possibilites like Barcelona to keep the ball so they need to focus on their strenghts.

Oh plus, any set peice and Barca will be in HUGE trouble, just look at Real who actually can defend set peices in La Liga and how they were undone by crosses etc last night. Barca need to be strong in the air tonight.

We have pretty fast or good at defence midfielders, we have been pressuring people in midfield all season, especially at the Bridge. It will be far more fruitful there than at the Nou Camp where the pitch is probably about twice the size. It's virtually impossible to pressure Barcelona at the Nou Camp, there you really do have to turtle or you're fucked. We will probably rely on pressure + breakaways, and go for a 1-0. My prediction is that the game will be 1-1 and then 3-0 at the Nou Camp to Barca but meh, stranger things have happened! Yeah to echo Pandemona, going forward two things are imo certain for us: a) The long ball will be available b) Ramires can outpace Abidal any day of the week. Just really sucks that David Luiz is out because he would have been the best defender against Messi.

It just feels that way at the Nou. I dont think there will be much of a difference in either game tbh, Chelsea dont have the ability to keep the ball very well. Some pressing and lobbing it up is all theyll manage. And it certainly could be worth a goal or 2 for sure. You never know. Chelsea really misses an inform healthy young Essien imo. Far and away my favourite player at Chelsea the last decade. Abidal isnt playing anyway, and if you think outpacing Abidal is the key beating him the form hes been in the last year or 2 then youve got another thing coming. Any winger can outpace him. Hes been shutting down Real Madrid and such like a boss for the last 2 seasons, I think he couldve handled Ramires, lol that guy is all engine.

Puyol plays left back, which anyone in the chelsea team could out pace him. And yeah Luiz has probaly torn his calf so he will be out for 2/3 weeks but no confirmation from Chelsea as to the extent of the damage, pretty sure Gary Cahill will do us blues proud, fantastic english centre back like JT but with pace to bail him out of a situation. So nervous for the match just like any fan when they come up against Barcelona. I for one just want to keep the selfish record we have vs Barca. That messi has never scored past us in 6 games ![]()

No matter how bad at keeping the ball he is, he has been raping almost every left back this season, granted with about a 10% chance of actually offloading the ball usefully, but there's still a chance! He is also a good defensive presence. You're right about Essien, damn you are right. Meireles is a miserable replacement. In fact I preferred Romeu to Meireles. He blasts the ball over the top 95% of the time and wastes all of our attacks. Unfortunately you're spot on about Chelsea's economy, we just give the ball away far far too often. I think it will be 1-1 because we will get one long ball to pay off, or we will get one wing attack followed by a header. I also reckon we will concede to a shitty goal from Barca in about the 50th minute, probably someone blasting it at Cech, it bouncing off him and a player running in to score the goal. Then I guess I wouldn't be surprised to see the game peter out 1-1, but it's always possible Barca score again and then we level it with a header from a corner. Fingers crossed Pandemona we don't concede to Lionel ![]()

Cech is sick as hell and I guarantee he will save 2 certain goals tonight probably one in the 90th minute like he always does. Barcelona's long distance (minus free kicks) are indeed less threatening than other teams but I can still see them playing their way in, having a blast, Cech saving heroically, then a Barca player coming in and tapping the ball in. I don't think Barca will get any typically clean goals today...just my hunch ![]()
