nice event^^
Fighting game tournaments are always like this. For the most part anyway button checks at the start take a little bit of time but its usually match after match none stop for every fighting game tournament since there's less preparation required.

I agree... cant believe MLG doesn't have any fighting games on the circuit, especially when fighting games are popular in NA

Because Capcom doesn't license their games to leagues.

It was probably Evolution. Are you sure it was that high? I thought the grand finals for super only had like 40k people.

You are quite correct, I was typing in a rush and not thinking really about what I said I'm just so used to Starcraft 2 being soooo popular that I kind of put TL and Sc2 together. I do enjoy watching BW very much. I shall go lash my self for forgetting about BW

Evolution was last year, I don't remember the numbers for Shadaloo Showdown but there where a lot of people watching

Lol there's the answer then... why don't they allow it tho? Maybe im missing something but it can only be good exposure for the game

From PlayXP's MLGSundance interview a few weeks ago;
▼ What kind of events are MLG planning on adding in the future? - In the case of PC Games, League of Legends. For console, Gears of War 3 and a few fighting games.
So, they're obviously interested in adding fighting games in the near future.
|
They're adding Mortal Kombat 9, because Netherrealm licenses their game.
Capcom doesn't.
Thats that.
Also, Shadowloo didn't even hit the highest concurrents, NCR did which was 22.5k
Evo last year hit like 45k at grand finals.
This will shatter that record, I'm expecting 6 digits during top 8 day.

I think Sundance commented on it before saying something regarding the licensing of Capcom titles. Something silly like that. But that's all hearsay because I don't remember the exact details.
There we go, just saw Zlasher's comment.

It would be pretty damn naive to think that MLG didn't consider SF4. Lol let me ask Seth Killian why Capcom hasn't licensed SF4 to MLG and see if he responds.

I've heard mixed views on what it did for the tekken community.
Honestly one of the best things about fighting games is that every single tournament is community run. At the very top, the head director is a fighting game player for every single major. Makes the experience a lot better because they can always run it exactly the way they want to, no sponsor dictating things.

Why MLG doesn't have SF4:
-MLG wants Street Fighter to be a part of the circuit -A bitter past may have left salty people trying to sabotage MLG's attempts with Capcom -Capcom Japan believes MLG is harming the independent tournament scene -MLG has a stigma of being an over-controlling organization
So I read or heard.

Zlasher just nailed it man. It's because Capcom doesn't license their games.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of LoL either I think when I'm done lashing my self for forgetting about BW I should turn that upon all the people who like LoL

That's pretty accurate. I'm sure I've seen another hover around the 38k mark, but I cannot remember the exact event.

LoL is not a featured steram on TL
There are featured streamers, and sometimes they play LoL, but NOBODY is featured on TL if it is not related to BW or SC2.
