I'm partially in the same boat I think. It wasn't the post apocalyptic theme for me. It was the bleak darkness and lack of lighting that really turned me off. I look at screens/videos of fallout 3 and it looks way more inviting to play than New Vegas.

I didn't like Fallout 1 or 2, I like Fallout 3, I haven't tried New Vegas yet AHAHAHAHAHAHHA So let me fucking get this straight. Despite it being an overwhelming majority of Fallout and RPG fans finding New Vegas to be the better game in every way, you're going to hold true to "As far as I'm concerned, the majority thinks Fallout 3 is better"? And most importantly you are saying Fallout 3 is better than New Vegas when you haven't even tried it. ...just my opinion, calm down please, didn't mean to intimidate you. I'll take back what I said, I agree with you, of course. Intimidate me? What? Do you know what that word means? I'm laughing at you because of what you said. That's not intimidation. You're saying that Fallout 3 is better when you haven't even played New Vegas. That's me laughing at you. Would you like me to take the time to write out a huge post explaining all the gameplay additions and fixes that New Vegas brings that makes it an objectively better and more balanced game? And go into the extreme retardation that is Fallout 3's story and how it shits on Fallout canon and how it consistently breaks its own immersion? It's not you intimidating me and I don't want you to "take back what you said", I'm genuinely interested here dude. It shocks me that people can just brush aside such a great RPG in New Vegas, especially when they haven't even played it. As I linked before http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_3_questshttp://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_quests
Actually, I never said that, so, come again, buddy. I said, and I quote "As far as I'm concerned, the majority thinks Fallout 3 is better than New Vegas, I haven't tried New Vegas yet, so I have yet to see for myself." To cut this into pieces for you, I thought that Fallout 3 was more popular than New Vegas, because that's what I've heard. I understand that you love New Vegas and that you disagree, but you can't argue against how I personally feel as opposed to how you feel.
It shocks you that people can "just brush aside such a great RPG", well, it shocks me that people can have such insight, but lack the ability to understand, that the world does not share your point of view and that people are different. I'm sorry, but you're insane, and I won't waste another second on arguing with you, because you're actually a waste of time.

I played it with a 9800GTX+ and it looked pretty great. Download Witcher2Tweaker or something like that. That will disable Options that cost alot of performance and don't make the game look much better.
btw Witcher2+Witcher1 for 17$ ...way better deal than on Steam. http://www.gog.com/en/promo/the_witcher_series__gem__promo

i personally liked the fallout 3 setting more, you were thrown in a post apocalyptic world, you know nothing about or who or what lives there.
New Vegas lost abit that for me due to its in the same.. 'universe' but with Vegas instead of the unhabitable world :p

So Witcher 2 is looking me in the eye right now.. haven't played the first but I fucking love rpg's. Grew up playing d1-2lod, Elder scrolls(More Morrowind and Oblivion) etc. How does it compare to games like that? is it something I should def try? I've been falling behind in rpg's lately and itching for a good one since d3 imo shit the bed, and I never got into assassains creed or fable that much, though was considering buying one of them during this sale.

The Witcher 2 is very different from the games you've said. But it's an amazing RPG and since you like the genre I think you're going to enjoy it. AC is not really a RPG, and a lot of people don't like Fable(Especially 3, I had fun playing it but some people think it's crap). Anyway out of AC/Fable/The Witcher, the latter is vastly considered to be the best game.

It's more story driven with less freedom, It's not a sandbox game at all. The areas you can go to are quite limited, there are bushes you can't walk over and stuff like that. There are really no dungeons to loot, almost every location is somehow connected to a quest.
The game is making a somewhat succesful attempt to be more realistic (while there is magic and it's an RPG) and mature. The graphics are some of the best I've seen. There are sex scenes (OMG!!!!). I personally think the combat is a little clunky but many others seem to enjoy it.
Anyway...
New Vegas ULTIMATE worth it compared to regular New Vegas? I found the level cap in Fallout 3 to be too low and it sort of killed the game for me before it's time. ULTIMATE fixes that and then some?

AC / Witcher is a bit tied actually. They appeal to different people mostly. The AC titles that are agreed to be worse than the Witcher ones is the hand held console ones.
