Most fans of the series I know favorize Rome and Medieval 2. Empire/Napoleon makes gameplay a bit weird because of gunpowder units and shogun doesn't have the biggest variety in units. Whatever you do, make sure to pick up the corresponding Darthmod right from the start, those are by far the best and biggest mods for the series which improve upon AI, graphic and general issues the games had. | ||

Edit: Whatever you do, if you like those types of games #2 is a must imo. | ||
