hell has the really annoying hell effectsthat can truly fuck you over depends on char and rng imho. thought yesterday why not play some and noticed i still had a Mifi of okawaru standing in lair on lantea. first god gift exec axe of chopping, yay! proceded to own lair and orc just to die at d20 or so to invis frederick cause i got cocky. wouldve been such an awesome char, already had a source for haste ,repel missiles etc for later. today since i pretty much havent played since .12 i decided to give the gargoyle ago. kk go monk and check things out. quickly notice stuff dies fast and that my ac is growing almost as fast. pick up chei ,kill more stuff and quickly go to mid dungeon. all fine till i again get cocky and then step from time (35% failure) fails on me. well try again, find chei on d3 and a ring of slaying (!) +3/+7 quickly after. now just stomped through D till lair on :13,go lair. oshit first hydra on l3 already, do some wand stuff, bend time... thing dies in 2 hits. meet 2 more hydras on the floor just to again 2 shot them. continue and soon meet pack of death yaks in the open, damn ok lets see ofcourse hydras dont that scary when you have 30 ac with stoneskin. slouch bend time and just manfight them 3 at once. yay 50% hp surive so schtrong! did lair till 7 and now just cleared orc against a orc4 evry other(nonchei) char wouldve had huge problems with. SHITTON of priests with some highpriests and saint roka with a band of again 5 priests. but thx to sloch oneshotting priests all went well. all of that in barely an hour destryoing things left and right. point of story: go play gargoyles, go play gargoyle of chei. esp cause from what ive seen they got nerfed in trunk. | ||

Training wise, I would stop training spellcasting (probably forever). Why are you training Necromancy so high ? If you want to cast Death's door it would be better XP wise to get some charms skill instead. Your defensive skills are still a bit low, I would focus on that, and that only. I almost never train more than 2 skills at once, most often only 1, to get where I want the quickest. And that's not only me, most players do it that way. If you cleared Elf:2 and managed to handle the nasty elves, you can plan on doing Elf:3 at some point (after Shoals for exemple). It's pretty much the same, except the vault is bigger :D But you may get a lot out of the loot, mostly you lack some form of Haste (wand, or better, spell). There usually is a lot of books, enhancer staves and such. | ||

As for the alternative to Necro etc, you don't really need one. Your offense is fine. It's ok to train only defense for a while. | ||

Also, in a more "Save me from my ignorance" tone, would you consider a +5, +9 artefact falchion of (slice, +blink, relec, rpois, rc+) better than a +4, +6 demon blade? In terms of pure numbers, the falchion is slightly outdamaged, but I do not know how good slice is and the resists seem completely worth it to me. | ||
