Wow for an 8 mana green creature, that is actually super solid. Limited talk right here.

I kind of like Killing Wave. It's situational and no superstar, but it can be used to put yourself in a really nice position. Life in this Standard format trickles away quickly. 1 of in Zombies?

Are we sure the angel shuts down shocklands? I don't think you are activating an ability when you pay 2 to put them into play untapped. I think it's a replacement effect instead.

Shocklands deal damage, not pay life. What the angel DOES shut down is fetchlands, but it's not as big of an issue because fetchlands already on the board can get popped in response. Overall you have to pay WWW1 for a 3/3 flier lord, I don't think any deck wants to make the triple white commitment for a card that doesn't really shut down anything major at that point in the game.

Apparently Personal Tutors are going out of stock everywhere. My friend came up with Insidious Dreams if you could ever manage to resolve one, for the 4x time walk in a row, still unlikely although funny.

While I was drafting last night some one mentioned that he heard that some rather well known player/writer stole several binders at a large tournament recently and then tried to sell them to the dealers. Does anyone know anything about this, or is it just a rumor?

Guys... the angel does not shut down shock lands or the low costed black creatures that require sacrifice. Those are all triggers, not spells or activated abilities. Reading is tech.

The angel will shut down pod, it will shut down things like phyrexian mana. It will shut down stuff like Griselbrand's activated ability. It will not shut down stuff like the upkeep triggers for the revealed demon.

Dig, is right in that it doesn't stop Shocks, but it does stop fetches. Kinda neat in Legacy or Modern maybe? Stops the crap out of Phyrexian Mana though.

In Legacy it's a 4 mana card with a huge color requirement that doesn't win you the game and doesn't affect the board if it dies immediately, I don't see it getting played.

Modern maybe, it would go nice in that hatebears deck.

It'd be huge in block if there's a demon/sacrifice subtheme going on, since black in general this block has a huge sacrifice theme to pair with Morbid.

That's what hkf is saying. In either case: http://wiki.mtgsalvation.com/article/Replacement_effect. Reading up is nice.

Edit: I should clarify that hfk is saying that it's not a triggered ability. It won't stop shocklands.

A couple thoughts:
Arcane Melee seems too slow to make something out of it. Many people will try though.
I wonder if they are printing vertical cycles for the soulbond guys. We've seen a common and uncommon in U, and a rare in W.
The tomb is solid in limited, especially if you have any flash creatures.
The legendary mythic angel cycle appears to be costed XCWW, and exclude B. Avacyn is 5WWW, so that counts.
Gisela seems like a one of in Frites, as if you can untap with it you can attack for 10 first strike, and it's pretty difficult to kill through combat.

In either case it does not stop shock lands. The shock lands are neither a spell or activated ability, so you can pay the life. hkf is just poking me for getting it wrong from be saying it is a trigger, when in reality it is a replacement effect.

Arcane mastery is going to be used for edh, nothing else.
