Similar style of leveling/party/skill/etc. (cRPG genre) but the game is played from a first person perspective and IMO it's the best cRPG series ever made. MM VII especially is just a master piece with an amazingly interactive story line, tons engaging side quests, a very good/rewarding leveling/specialization system and lots of replay-bility (9 classes each with a 2 promotions, and a choice to go down the good/evil path). Plus, the game is packed with cool things such as the fly ability which wouldn't be possible in a 2D game.
So I just installed Baldur's Gate II - Page 55

I always thought it counts as +1 magic weapon.

Only played it through 2 or 3 times though. Monk and Sorceror i remember, there were some warrior starts but i'm not sure i finished any. I think the boss from BG1 instagibbing my entire party one after the other is one of my fondest video game memories, close to my first FF7 playthrough.

I'm ina similar situation. I rolled a blade and picked up Jan (and later Imoen), Aerie, Korgan (/Sarevok), Edwin and Viconia. Just picked Edwin up and am in the middle of resolving their quests in the crypt. Party members are pretty hostile to each other, but it's an entertaining combination so far, and I don't think Aerie is the violent type so I'm not worried about having to reform the party due to conflicts.

I've picked up edwin and viconia, and booted everyone else bet imoen. So far I'm heading into the kobold mines uh oh ![]() Edit: I gotta say, playing this on modern hardware is just so funny. Quick Saving and Loading from an SSD makes this game so much more enjoyable.

Is there any other way to avoid/prevent vampire level drain aside from the negative plane protection spell? Any items? If so, any idea where to get them? I progressed into Chapter 3, but I'm still doing all the Athkatla side quests, and I get jumped repeatedly by the vampires. This usually results in at least one character dying because I can't use spells without getting attacked by the Cowled Wizard assholes! Not a major issue, but pretty annoying.
