Uh... he's under 70% for the season, no?

69% is whole a lot better than 50%, no? 70% isn't that bad at all. 50% is.

Actually, 69% is quite awful, unless your a center.

rofl ok, i guess i was being too generous on artest. he was a pretty bad free throw shooter, but 70% is an acceptable number to me, given that i don't expect any higher. by "usually not bad" i meant he's not a 50% free throw shooter.

blaming Ron Artest. He shut Paul Pierce down for a couple of games. It won't be his fault at all if they lose the series.

The lakers as a whole couldn't shoot fts, if they made their freethrows they prolly would have won the game.

I still think the lakers will win. Admittedly, I'm a bit biased towards the lakers being from San Diego, but the previous 4 games I felt the lakers pretty much had control of the game.

The celtics were able to pull off the win tonite because the celtics had solid numbers from their stars, out hustled the lakers, and most importantly no one besides kobe on the lakers produced.

Every other game besides tonight the Celtics haven't had consistency from their starting 5 while the Lakers have been automatic between Kobe and Gasol. Ray Allen hasn't hit a 3 in ANY of the Boston games and they still pulled out 2 for 3.

Like I said before this game and after Game 1 - the Lakers have good reason to be concerned.

Being able to keep it close is not the same as winning. Whenever the Lakers do not have the lead, they are not in control. They rely on getting a lead and fending off the opponent runs (due to their weak bench play). When they have to expend energy trying to make a comeback, they run out of juice at the end of the game and fall short.

has anyone considered that since kobe took the game in his own hands during the 3rd quarter, he effectively iced the rest of his team? the rest of the lakers played almost no role in the first part of the third quarter and that took them all out of the game by the time the 4th quarter started

Actually, the poll is misleading because it has two options for the C's. 60% of America thinks that the C's take it in the end, just the highest percentage of singular votes was Lakers in 7.

In fact, California and Michigan (lolwut?) are the only two states with a majority vote favoring the Lakers.

Since crushing the Lakers in '04, any animosity from the Magic era has disappeared.

five points down the stretch: ray misses a three, celtics get a new 24 after review. wallace misses a three, jumpball, great pass from kobe, artest fails. i mean the entire game was awful by the lakers (besides kobe obviously) but we still had a shot in the end. fuuuuuck

As i said before, it did not hit the rim!

It actually did, you can even see the net move.

Okay suppose it did...but every replay they showed could go either way. The referees made the first call that it was lakers ball. If they had the same replays as the commentators, they just do not have concrete evidence to overturn the call.

The ball changing spin and direction in mid air isn't concrete evidence? Physics don't lie. There were two angles where you could clearly see the ball change in spin before it is anywhere near the glass.

It hit the glass and then went in another direction. The ball was behind the net.

There's no way to prove that without a replay. We could argue for days and find out absolutely nothing without a replay. Fan-boyism would overwhelm us. See ya at home.

Didn't I just say that TWO different slow motion replays (which I watched on a humangous tv screen) very clearly show the ball changing direction and spin when it passes the rim, clearly before it hits the glass? Fanboyism has nothing to do with what happened.

In other news, I'll be happy if Kobe keeps taking those low percentage (or high percentage if you're Kobe >.<) shots all day instead of dishing the ball to Gasol or whoever. It seemed like he was trying to force through points, successfully mind you, but that won't always work.

Team Basketball > Superstars any day of the week.

i think the only reason why kobe was jacking up a ton of shots (apart from being on fire) was because his teammates couldn't get anything going.

When Kobe takes over games to that extent his teammates look disinterested and don't hustle as much
It's never good when he starts jacking up shots like that even if he's hitting them

Ray Allen's child was sick... just like when he slumped in the playoffs in 2008.

And Bynum's knee, just goes to show you that feeling your knee give (a la Paul Pierce) is never something you should take lightly.

And when is Hall of Fame coach Phil Jackson going to make the adjustments to open up the paint? Wasn't he supposed to have solved this issue Oklahoma game 6?

Lakers are playing like they shouldn't be there. If Kobe has to put up 38 points to still lose, your team is doing something totally wrong. I'm a Celtics fan, but I am starting to get scared, because I believe Pau Gasol will come alive when he hits back to LA and will have a good game. Hopefully, Big Baby / Perkins / KG can control him like they have so far.
