one cool thing about fantasy in general is it sort of gets you to root for people you wouldn't normally care about ;P

Since starting fantasy basketball, I've become interested for, rooted for, and analyzed thoroughly, players that I would never even have known of.

Although I think there were a few cases of favoritism (I.E Dallas-Miami in 06 and Kings-Lakers in 02?) in general I think the NBA is the best and most professionally run sports league out there. I've argued this a lot of times last year, I really don't think the refs impact on games as a whole is as much as people tend to believe. They can however decidedly influence a few specific games (see above examples).. but over an entire year period it's not like there's some unwritten rule of making sure one or two teams make it to the finals OO The NBA only seems better run because every other major sports league doesn't have a commissioner like David Stern. Also the NBA is never looked at under the same standards as any of the other leagues, partially because of the influence MJ and other NBA superstars had on their image. No other major sport has had an icon of the MJ stature. Refs aren't able to just give away games but they can make calls to influence a team's chances. Hate to bring it up but that Kings/Lakers series from 01/02 was ridiculous (not the Laker's fault obviously). Now over the regular season any kind of ref favoritism is probably ignored, but during the playoffs sometimes it's hard to not shake your head at certain things that go on.

Well Artest is straight up better than Ariza no matter which way you cut it. Both were Free Agents so it wasn't really a trade but more like they switched teams.

I thought they traded and I just couldn't understand why the Blazers would make such a trade.
