Anyways im gay and i love touhou and holy shit xion is sexy and that eastern dream remix didn't know it was xi-on, u had it in ur EoSD playlist that i downloaded, it is really unique and epic arrangement in that it... is an adaptation, rather than just an "arrange"

I can't post anything now :> mainly because I have no cable or card reader for my camera, but even if I did, the hotel internet is pretty shitty :<

Also, so as to not get anybody's hopes up, expect a very skewed ratio of manhous to touhous

Manhous haha, is that a common term or did you use it? xD

Do you know of any cosplays where the manhous actually dress up like, well, a male version of the character I guess, rather than trying to dress up as a female? Like they could wear male versions of the clothes but still have key design elements so that they can be recognized. If this can be pulled off then I will be happy cus perhaps I could dress up as a touhou character after all

(not cus i want to dress up as a girl but because i love touhou lolol)

On a more serious note, not that I know of. I'm not surprised if it does exist, since genderbending is a pretty common concept in Japan (or at least in their manga and anime anyway). Perhaps you can even look for certain artist's renditions of characters that trades off their skirt for pants. In fact...

...so I looked up a blog because I remembered seeing someone posting a photo before. It was mrmin123's series of "Touring Japan" blogs. In part 7 (link), he has a picture of him posing together with a guy sakuya (the DBZ fusion pose), which I think is the koumajou densetsu version created by banpai akira (aka Touhouvania). Cept the guy there wore pants instead of a skirt and an additional vest, but he was obviously recognizable.

Whoops, I just did some research in the middle of the night when I should be sleeping :D Anyways, the manhous here just wear the traditional costume worn by the character (dress and all). You'll see soon enough :> At least they don't seem to mind dressing up as a girl character. Btw, this one guy created his own costume from scratch, rather than just buying it from a cosplay store, which is pretty cool.

Oh yeah, the term manhou isn't a common term, but I think it provides a pretty accurate description.

It started last year when my sister came to Aki-con (I didn't go then), and there were two Yuyuko cosplays, one by a cute asian girl, and another by a large burly man. To differentiate the two, she called the guy cosplayer a manhou (not in his face obviously, lol). Ever since then, any guy cosplaying a touhou character is refered to as a manhou by us.

This manhou cosplayer made a return this year as Meiling. I got a couple pictures of him, he was pretty funny :>

Anyway, time for me to slleep asap. It's 11:48 pm and I gotta wake up at 7 am and last until 7 pm for Saturday :>

Lol. Well I do think Wriggle was the first touhou character I saw and looked up, so that would be fitting. Even though I do not particularly like her character

If I were to ever cosplay I would definitely make it good (aka buy it online, then sell it back when I'm done). If I were to cosplay Touhou, I would probably pick Rinnosuke since he's a guy, but since he's not actually in the games, I probably won't cosplay anything Touhou related xD.

Haha, i do think manhou is a great term. Understandable and comical, while not necessarily insulting. Lol at the Cirno's costume, I guess they don't make small enough sizes for girls who may actually be close[r?] to the character's age.

Oh, apparently the kid might be a boy. Kekek.

Ah, yeah that is definitely Sakuya
