Lots of lighthearted humor, yuri elements without being obnoxious or unbelievable, and plenty of heart-warming moments to boot. But then again, I think I might have already told you to dl those before ![]() If you want more comedy/light stuff, try: Haniwa's Miko Miko Suika (on my share under [A]Haniwa's Store) - Comedy series about Suika establishing herself as the Hakurei Shine's second shrine maiden. Happens to do a better job at it than Reimu too Morino Hon 4-koma series (on my share under [A]Morino Hon) - 4 panel comics about a variety of touhou characters. Not a lot of plot going on, but some continuity exists between each page. Also read this first if you plan to diverge onto the other Morino Hon doujins. Also one of the greatest Yuuka quotes ever comes from this series. Anything by Karaagetarou except Chirei De (link) - I am big Karaagetarou fan okay. Chirei De is more plot heavy and is recommended by itself down below. However, everything else is the more common comedy/light-hearted style by this artist and are all great reads :> Not everything on that link is a touhou doujin though. Any pool preceded by touhou is good but the specific ones that I found more endearing are MeiSaku Kiss, Vampire Kiss, Our Home, Scarlets' Pudding, Miss Patchy's Diet, Keine, Mokou, & the students!, and of course Myon Myon Typhoon. I just realized this artist does a lot of SDM lol. If you want some crazy in your touhou: Anything by Pageratta (on my share under [A]Pageratta) - Depending on the series, it's the touhou cast in high school, an RPG adventure thing, or a free-for-all style battle royale. Suspension of belief slightly required, but not too badly imo. Anything by Ennui Akadako (on my share under [A]Ennui Akadako) - A lot of gag stuff, a lot of inside jokes, a lot of crazy. Art may take some getting used to. PLOT stuff: Any series by chihiro: Yuuka's Flower Shop Kazami (link) - A 3 (3.5?) part story about Yuuka and Alice. Gets a bit fan-servicey at some parts. Art being gorgeous is a nice bonus. Elemental 8 (link) - A 3 part story about Patchouli and Koakuma, and later on Marisa as well. I actually have not finished reading this, because last I checked, the pages were still awaiting translations. I just quickly checked several random pages right now and it seems the whole thing has been translated, so I'll be giving this a read myself soon. Personal Color's Two by this Side, Three by the Other Side (on my share under [A]Personal Color) - Classic recommendation for plot related story, srsly. A bit heavy on the yuri and emo, but if you like yukari/yuyuko, you will not mind at all. Karaagetarou's Chirei De (link) - Pre-Touhou 11 story about Satori + co. The story gets a bit heavy as it progresses, but still, being a doujin by Karaagetarou, there are plenty of cutesy, funny moments too. Other Morino Hon doujins (on my share under [A]Morino Hon) - Oops, almost forgot these ones. If you read the 4-koma series first, some of the little short stories are revisited by this artist in full doujinshis. Omoito is about Hourai becoming full autonomous, and Yakumo-Ke is about Yukari and Ran losing their powers and Chen has to take care of them. Sound of Bells seems to be a new storyline, I don't remember what this one is about though, lol. Not sure if there are any categories you want (like yuri centric, maybe?) Just post here if these aren't to your taste and you want something else.

I would've placed flipflops in both srs plot and comedy recommends but I didn't wanna spend more than an hour writing up the above list (plus there were so many titles to sort through!) and I really needed to go sleep so I can wake up for C&E ![]() Anyway, C&E wasn't too special =P Dealer's room is kinda bombing hard cuz they had the brilliant idea of separating dealers and artists alley, which ended up fucking us over (12pm Saturday aka con peak hour seriously looked like 1 hour b4 closing)

Just a bit of advance warning, though: it's got a fair amount of boobage and nips, though none of it is displayed in an overly sexual manner (they're not making out or anything, it's just a bathhouse scene and stuff). Even so, tread lightly if you're not all that into topless toehoez. Also, Koakuma with glasses is delicious. Really, any Touhou with glasses would be a plus, 'cause I find glasses strangely attractive. It's a little amusing that of the only two Touhou characters who canonically wear glasses, one is male and the other is a tanuki. ._.

+ Show Spoiler [Review] + [ Minstrel ] あの日の蜃気楼 ![]() Female Vocals, Rock, Metal Track Listing:
Yeah, I'd never heard of Minstrel either before this. I checked out their website, and it's not like this is their debut album or anything. I suppose they just never made it big like Sally or other comparable circles. In terms of style, I'd say Minstrel is something like a weird mix between the aforementioned Sally, xi-on, and BUTA OTOME. The result is my favorite album from C82. I'll be reviewing as I listen to each track. First off is a beautiful piano arrangement of Centennial Festival. It's a soft, fleeting sort of sound. There's not much energy behind it, but piano pieces don't really require energy. Very beautiful, and easily the best (only?) piano version I've heard. We jump right into Night Sakura of Dead Spirits next, which throws in the whole rock band and some very good female vocals. The instrumentation itself is fairly generic (a lot like xi-on, actually), but the vocalist makes this awesome. The voice inflection is very well done, which is important in a tricky song like Night Sakura. You might have noticed that in songs that are difficult to sing with the original melody intact (like Dark Side of Fate), the singer will use an adapted melody so he or she can keep up. This woman comes very close to preserving the original tempo, while still adding her own spin to the melody. I kinda picture her words dancing out of the speakers. I love this song. Third in line is a power metal arrangement of Faith is for the Transient People. I didn't particularly enjoy the song itself, because DADADADADADADADADA drum lines aren't exactly my favorite, but holy shit this drummer is making me moist. I want to be him. The vocalist here is also very talented, though I just don't really feel like her talent is being given its proper due, because power metal kinda clashes with her voice. Without any other factors, though, she sings beautifully, and reminds me a lot of Ranko. Phantom Ensemble is a much slower song than the previous one, and it gives off xi-on vibes like crazy. It's like if fai mixed jazz elements in with his regular progressive rock songs, and got the same vocalist from Night Sakura to perform along with it. Again, the result could be seen as a little generic, but generic doesn't mean bland or mediocre. Another great track. Nue makes a double appearance on the next song, and her presence begets a track that is almost EXACTLY like Pizuya's Cell's style of metal. Heavy guitars and strings accompany both a chorus ensemble and a lead vocalist in a strangely appealing combination. Heian Alien's portion is pretty sick, and while Youkai Back Shrine Road falls on its face a little bit in some portions, it's still good. If you like Pizuya's Cell or MyonMyon, you'll really like this. Ancient Temple and Ultimate Truth compose the following song, slowing down the pace from Nue's debut. It's an organ/piano centric piece with the usual "generic" rhythm guitar. Unfortunately, this track isn't very notable, and kind of falls behind the other two in terms of memorability. It makes a comeback when Ultimate Truth kicks in after a sick guitar solo, but the majority of the piece is Ancient Temple, which isn't BAD, but definitely not stunning. The piano is sexy, though. In my opinion, both this track and Sanae's song are contenders for the worst song on the album, but since every song is so great, that doesn't really mean much. Then we have Cosmic Mind. The power style from Faith is for the Transient People returns in an adapted form, with the drum line mixed up so that the DADADADA isn't omnipresent. I'm definitely getting a BUTA OTOME vibe here, and I much prefer this track over Faith is for the Transient People. Very well done, thanks to the dynamic drum line. Rounding out the album is yet another piano arrangement of Centennial Festival. It's much shorter than the first, so I was feeling a little dissatisfied with the ending. I feel like Minstrel could have done a much better job with it, like making it a full-length, non-piano arrangement. Of course, the song itself, while very short, is also quite good, but I can't help but be left wanting more. Like I said, overall this album was very good, and definitely shattered my (admittedly low) expectations. It's assuredly worthy of your time.

![]() And yay, glad you enjoyed chihiro's work, Archas. I feel you might also enjoy the artist's other stories. Unfortunately, only one is translated (besides the one you read and the Yuuka/Alice one): The Flying Dutchman (link). This one is about a strange incident involving Sakuya (just read it ![]() There's another one about Sakuya and a revisit of her past but it's still only half-translated. Then there's one last one that's only a preview but is about the Touhou 12 cast, which I'm very much looking forward to :D

Also yeah Cos and Effect seemed kinda doomed due to all the circumstances lol.

I'm suprised they used same insrument same original song for the OP/ED track of the album. Stlistic use here, but still unexpected. I am warmly waiting to hear those dynamic drum lines. Drums usually aren't an instrument of focus (for me), it seems. Also slightly strange-seemingly is reffering to the arranges by their original song name. Granted it's the most practical way, but I always just go "the nth track", or "that" track. Sometimes it's nice not to know or realize the original song on the first listen. The circle Attrielectrock has a good album for that: http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/ReFIND. I couldn't say its good or bad, but it was worth listening to. One thing, if you dislike it, it for sure won't be because you've heard the same thing already. By the way, the album title means "That day's mirage". On another note, how are you on the fanfic (A Scarlet Stained Memoir) you were reading a while back? Oh wow again, ZUN's Music Collection Vol.7 - Neo-traditionalism of Japan has been realeased (from en.touhouwiki.com)! Actually been out for a while, since August 11th at Comiket 82. Totally forgot about that in light of the touhou anime's, songs and games. Zun's also got a new blog website: http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Neo-traditionalism_of_Japan. Overall, a metric ton of music to work through.

It's always a plus if the album has a solid lineup. I figured you folks would appreciate it too, but I guess not everyone is like me. ![]()
