Son “StarDust” Seok Hee is a 22 year old Protoss progamer from Korea. You might now him under the IDs of Sson (his former nick) or M18M (his brood war nick); he played professional Brood War for teams Samsung KHAN and ACE. After LighT disbanded StarDust found a new team in mYi (My Insanity) and is currently training in their house in Switzerland!
a shameless collage of his TLPD image and a shot from one of his epic PvZs (when he was still called Sson)
And there is also a message from the master himself!
To all of my beloved fans, Hi all, this is Sukhee Son. First of all, thank you for cheering me and enjoying my stream and I really appreciate all of your support. For the people who might not know of me, let me briefly introduce myself to you first. I was a Brood War professional gamer in Korea. I have played BW for Samsung Khan for two years and also for Air Force Team for next two years until this August. After that, I was not sure whether I should keep playing BW or SC2 as a pro or I should stop doing it. I loved playing BW much more than playing with textbooks in school, but I was not sure I can still do a good job in this area. However, after a long time of pondering, I decided to come to US and play SC2. Yes, then I came to US and joined the LighT team for playing starcraft 2. I am using two accounts, stardust and sson. Now, I am living with the team manager in LA. Actually, it's not been a long time since I started to play SC2 because I had played SC2 until earlier this year in Air Force Team. Thus, I also agree with that I might not be at that 'super pro' level at this point and that's the reason why I am still practicing a lot to get there. I will be happy to share my experience of practicing and becoming a top level pro with all of you guys so please enjoy my streams! Plus, I enjoy listening music (and yes, they are K-pops) when I play starcraft so please understand this. Plus, I also started learning English here but it is still bad. Please feel free to correct my English Thanks Sukhee Son.
So, if you want to join the fanclub just leave a message and I’ll add you!
- Is attempting to become a royal roader in WCS Eu after qualifying for Challenger League in S3 and battling through to make it to Premier League! He currently is in the round of 8 after advancing through 2 groups!
I've been following SC2 pretty much since the beginning and have never bothered with fanclubs...until now. His protoss air play in ProLeague left a strong impression on me, and while I havent seen much of that lately he continues to impress. Sign me up!
Sign me up please too! Discovered his stream accidentally about 10 days ago. Have been watching every day since! He definitely deserves a lot more viewers! Koshka

he doesn't have too many viewers and is not yet accomplished in one of the big tournaments, so it will take a while longer.

Sson is good, but he isnt quite good enough to be featured - yet. If he works hard, maybe one day he will get as good as Destiny and get featured.
I see what you did there.
yeah it's so frustrating that he STILL isn't featured here. I usually just check the streams here and forget about him, but he is one of the best streams to watch actually. Really creative and great mechanics to back it up....Come on TL, what the fuck.
you can list him as your favourite by clicking 'add to favourites' under the stream window on TL when he's on. Doing this he will pop up on the stream list to the right whenever he is online

He has gone over 1-2K multiple times, which is more than most can say... I also didn't realize people like Destiny, DesRow, and Protech had some crazy tournament results...
Sson just won the first qualifier of the Eset Winter Masters 3:1 against LoWeLy. Especially the fourth game is definetly worth watching with sick multitasking and double Warp-Prism harass and him beating the lategame BL/Infesor-combination!
If I keep it in mind, I will post a link of the VoD/Replays tomorrow.
EDIT: http://homerj.de/index.php?show=vods&play=2969 Here is the VoD of the game mentioned above. It starts at about 10 minutes. Unfortunately it is in german, but still its worth watching

you mean like machine and incontrol and all those other "pros"
added a tournament list to the OP. He will fight today at 01:00 GMT (+00:00) in the IEM Singapore NA qualifiers and start off against Golden. The other players are EG.IdrA, Dignitas.Killer, EG.DeMusliM, IVN.Boyo, and coL.goswser. So after all, quite beatable opponents!
He fought already in 2 stages of the qualifier, beating Tunico, Pit and TriMaster!
His teammate binski took down Shew and Suppy before losing to SluSh and qxc :/

I wasn't able to play unfortunately! Hopefully Sson makes it to the end though ^^

Haha, sorry for that! The brackets are a little confusing tbh, I'm still not sure why there is only 1 game in stage1...?
Anyways, GL next time and lets root for Sson in 4h!
Went to the Loser Bracket, 1-2 to MC, but will likely make it out. Sadly, at the end of the LB he has to knock HeavensLighT out Heavens is good, but rusty ATM -- Sson's godly PvZ will likely crush him.

Neither of those players are in his bracket. TheOgnis is the only notable player I see in his losers bracket, he should have an easy time unlike his winner's bracket. Either way, here is to hoping that he makes it to the Championship Bracket! Either way I'll keep tuning into his stream every time it's up and I'm available!

Oh, thx for clarifying, I misread the bracket Gogo Sson!
awesome! updated the OP and since he's entering tourneys under the id StarDust it may be time to rename the fanclub so people can find him easier... any opinions on this?
He just won another Eset Winter Masters Qualifier (175$, finals 3-0 against DieStar). Now he should have enough points to qualify for the ro16 of the main tournament. From the ro8 the tournament will be held offline in Germany. If he manages to qualify, I really hope he will attend (5.000$ for 1st place).
he's been in the US living with me for the past 2.5 months. He's actually leaving tomorrow to go to IEM Singapore and then he'll be returning to Korea.
He will come back to the USA in February or March. Also, if he qualifies for the ESET Finals, I will 100% send him <3!
Yesterday StarDust took part in the ro16 of the ESET Winter Masters 2012 and won 2-1 against FXOMinato. With advancing to the ro8 he qualified for the offline finals, which will be held on the 19th january at Hambourg, Germany.
Only protoss hope left? Sson was always a beast, in wol only the top korean players could take games against him in pvz, seems like his lvl reaching the same in hots. Seriously, if you watch this guy's stream like 1 hour you understand why he is a beast. He does reactions so smooth and thought out that you find yourself not prepared against this kind of style...
StarDust! <3 Such a wonderful player and a great guy. Really cool how even with the translator he is trying to speak in English. Seems to be quite a charismatic character and that's always nice :3

Most stupid post we'll see in a while, regardless of whether you're referring to Stardust or Jaedong. He just tried to take a third and hold Jaedong in his bases, forcing Jaedong to make more static defence. Making a large army on two bases is inherently all-in? GTFO.

he got the third base in game 1 and game 3 against hyun and then did a timing attack. this is like terran goes for a third and goes for a pressure with his units at the same time taht's not all in but if he loses all his units he is behind. now get out of this fanclub because you are not here to be a fan.
Jesus, what is the fanclub for if not to discuss the playstyle of a player!? but well if all you may say in here is "i want your babies" im obviously wrong here. glhf

I'm not angry at all, it was just horribly incorrect. You haven't seen only all-ins from him, because that was far from all-in.
Very heavy pressure initially but he then tried to expand and just reinforce his troops at the front for long enough to keep Jaedong in his bases until Stardust's third base would be safe, that seemed to be the plan. Attacking into the spines was a decision based on judging how much Jaedong must have had at home if he wassending that many zerglings to Stardust's third base, see? =D
EDIT: As Undead1993 said though, this is a fanclub, so it's not meant for complaints about style/methods unless you'rea fan saying something like "Ah, I remember the times when he used to play more like this~~~ *Reminisce* I wish he'd go back to that!" More like that sort, not just "Bleargh, all-ins!"
His play is so good and so entertaining. Finally a protoss abusing warp prisms and DTs and not just camping waiting for maxed supply/upgrades and whatnot. Well deserved win. Plus he fucking tries to speak english!
I am amazed... When he was the first to leave the KesPa teams to join LighT I thought this guy must wanted start anew...but after Dreamhack summer... This guy is amazing... I'd be proud to call myself an M18M, Sson, (now) Stardust fan. :D
This guy deserve so much. 50-200 viewers before the tournament i hope i gets 2k ++ know. Well done StarDust!! Fantastic tournament, I feel really happy watching the underdog win the whole thing. He is so hard working!
That was pretty awesome. I really enjoyed seeing his personality as I didn't really know of him when he was still on LighT. Was a privilege to see him play and to see his personality at DreamHack.
I've been following this guy since he started playing SC2, really liked his stream back when he started. Such a cool guy, hope to see him streaming sometime soon!
Wait a second, I think I forgot something Oh right, congratz on winning DH!
Nah, Stardust is his best nickname. What does m18m even mean? It just seems like yet another apparently meaningless letter based name (some of which are not based on their names, or MMA).

Some kind words about Stardust from some reddit thread (not sure who the poster of username Weaklink is but I don't see why he would be making this up):
"The thing that stands out most about him in my eyes is how straight forward and caring he is. Like when I was in the team house I saw him trying to help the other Protoss players. He's not the type to just kinda stick to himself. He genuinely wants to help the team grow. These were all the fears I had when he first arrived, but he never shied away from trying to get to know everyone."
This prize ceremony was magical with a perfect music and an extraordinary and friendly player. Congratulations Stardust ! it was really like looking at shining star dust
I am a big fan of this guy. His style will get shut down by banelings bombs and maybe swarm host (?). But if HerO, Rain, SoS and Parting look at this guy and Stardust looks at the styles used by those. Protoss will find solid safe builds
Time to check out your stream and see if you build t3 units in practice :D.
Sign me in :D This guy is awesome and brings some new builds for protoss. I liked his aggressive play even though he takes an early third! Not to forget to mention that this guy can even speak english <3

Yeah that fact hit me very late as well, and then ofcourse you know it's not a surprise at all that he's come so far. But that said, it's good to actually see him in a well exposed offline tournament.
On June 18 2013 21:15 quirinus wrote: How many viewers on his stream does he have now?
He has around 150 viewers, when he's streaming. Sometimes more, sometimes less. A long time ago, iNcontroL was promoting his stream quite a bit. At one point he had even more than 1000 people.

Stardust amazing play at Dreamhack. As a Protoss player I'm always looking for new role models to imitate, now I have a new one! I love it! Keep up the great play! Good luck in future tournaments. PROTOSS FIGHTING!!!
Oh i'm totally in :D As a fellow Eidgenosse (swiss), I flipped out when i foudn out that mYinsanity was a swiss team - and that Stardust brought esports glory to our small country!
I would love to get to know more about mYinsanity and Stardust^^
He is the best protoss in the world, but im not sure PvZ is balanced right now. Lategame looks impossible. Zerg are dominating the brackets right now, Stardust is the last and only hope. I hope he can do it.

Massive respect to Stardust learning english to be able to communicate with the european and american audience. He speaks english very well and I hope more koreans will start to do the same (even more so after the MC post) likewise that english speaking player who play in korea will speak more korean.
hey guys, sorry for such long streaks of no updates, I'll redo the OP once I get back from work. I'm not leaving StarDust, don't worry, but I think I lack the tenacity to properly take care of this badasses fanclub. So, if someone wants to take over the joy and burden, please step forward
Until then I'll do my best. And I am pretty sure StarDust has a good shot at going to at least S3 finals!
Real nice games this weekend! Shame you came so close but didn't make it to the finals in the end... Your attitude is amazing! I always see a smile on your face and it is so infectious! Keep up the great work and come back next season and win!
Great games today StarDust, it looked like you gave it yoyr all and that is good enough for me. Cannot wait to see you at the season 3 finals. Please add me to the fan club please.
ah man, poor stardust.. but great games against polt! every time you play, you somehow are able to create very interesting games no matter if you win or lose. GG anyway and continue to improve, WCS EU will be tough! also i am curious if the new regulations for foreigners in switzerland has any impact on your korean and north american players myinsanity? would be nice if pengwin or someone else who is familiar with the law in switzerland could tell me smth about it

The new laws don't help, but as far as we can see it shouldn't change anything from the way things currently are for us, thankfully.
Can anybody update me about what Stardust has been up to? Last I saw, August, he was playing Heroes aiming for top100 on ladder. I haven't been able to find anything since. Is he back to sc2? Still playing Heroes? AWOL?
