I don't blame her one bit, it has to take a toll on you playing hours a day for years and years, constantly on the road. These progamers log countless thousands of hours at the keyboard, eventually you learn all the ins and outs of the game, as it has barely changed since it came out, and then inevitably boredom sets in especially for the bright people at the top like Scarlett.

And perhaps the hardest part is, as far as I can tell, to basically do it alone, the life of a foreign pro, alone in front of the screen, grinding the ladder for endless hours. Perhaps the biggest reason the foreign scene has never been able to bridge the gap to the Koreans...the Koreans have coaches, race coaches, support staff, even maids, drivers; teammates, practice sessions, practice partners, team houses; the support of a professional team. When Koreans win, they thank their teammates and coaches (and families) for helping bring their success. The rare occasion a foreigner wins, they thank their sponsors.

It's sad to see Scarlett go but it is inevitable eventually. The career of a progamer is short, I think it takes its toll on you mentally and physically. If you think about it, even hockey players, football players, spend their careers getting pummelled, bashed around and hit in the head, but their pro careers still usually last 15-20 yrs. Few progamers, especially in Starcraft, even make it to 5. Of course I want to see Scarlett play on, but I understand why she would not want to. The bottom line is you need to have that passion and enjoyment of the game, otherwise you'll find that daily grind on the ladder is very hard.
