Although he lost, game 1 vs Innovation (osl round of 8) was fantastic, no-one but Inno could stop that. + Burrowed zerglings, why hasn't anyone else thought of that?! :D Absolutely the best zerg at the moment. Sign me up!!!!!

![]() There is a saying that no one is invincible when it comes to SC2 and I agree with that saying. - Kim Min Chul, June 18 2013 Soulkey is down 0-3. "I had lost my mind", he says reflecting on the matter. The past him would have lost the fourth game as well, unable to keep up the mentality to attain the championship trophy. Even then, at that moment, he felt the thought springing up to his mind, the notion that his 'hardest work' would go unrewarded, and perhaps rather than rise to his best he would fall to his lowest. There is a commercial break after the third game. One by one his teammates enter, his coach cracks a light-hearted joke and they reflect on their lives rather casually. It's out of place in the situation, but it manages to calm him down. We don't know what stories or jokes were told, of course, but they must have been rather good. Because during that moment the heart of a champion surely had been bleeding. Reread his interviews and you find a man who honestly doesn't care for the prize money(he gave away the WCS money to his team and family). He often speaks of the two types of players, those who disappear after achieving success, and those who maintain and propagate themselves based on that success, and manage to achieve something greater. Soulkey currently seeks to achieve that intangible. "To remain in people's memories forever." (June 3 2013) Forever. Day[9] once said that there is nothing cooler than being passionate about the things you love. I would add that there is also nothing greater, and that Soulkey seeks domination itself of the game of Starcraft. Part of the deepest line-up in Starcraft II history, he surely has the capabilities to do so. Repeated successes in ZvP and ZvZ against the absolute best(and the way in which he wins them) show him at the absolute top. ![]() The question that is going to be decided here in the WCS KR finals is whether or not he fails in the third. This match-up is so important. Anything other than complete dominance and understanding of the match-up throws him out of even contention of best player in the world. An absolute flailing would raise questions about his rule of the Zerg race. Soulkey remains one of the most skilled players on the planet, but in an era where Zerg's struggle against widow mines, he remains the foremost hope. Developing new strategies now copied worldwide such as baneling hit squads and crisp three base roach bane timings, he probably remains the best ZvT player on the planet. Recently though we've seen questionable decisions that hint that perhaps he is not comfortable in the ZvT match-up. While back in his championship days he was more than willing to engage head on macro against any terran player alive, most of his recent ZvT victories and defeats involve early timings on which he then capitalizes on. Not just the baneling timings which he aggressively throws against Innovation, but instead even six pools against the seemingly inferior player in Supernova. The heart of a champion is going to show today how he feels about the match-up. As MarineKing likes to end matches in the mid-game, we will see how Soulkey deals with three base terran. Or if he simply doesn't. But more than insights in ZvT we will see a further renewal of the heart of the champion, the head of the zerg pack, and the forger of ZvT strategy. I gave you a quote, by the way, reminiscing all Brood War fears that the skill-gap is too low and that even weaker players can take games off of the best. But let me finish the quote now. From here on out, a lot of players, even newcomers will probably be aiming for the WCS. I very much see that as a possibility. There is a saying that no one is invincible when it comes to SC2 and I agree with that saying. But I am confident that I can maintain my spot right now. And perhaps most importantly, he will endeavor with literally only the reward of glory(as he accepts no other), for the ultimate prize of our hearts.

Coming up with non-Soulkey 2nd - 5th place spots WILL induce coma ... who? Symbol? hyvaa? please. There wasn't a single game where MKP looked on par with Soulkey. Then again, there's only one guy who can consistently beat Soulkey in TvZ.
