I wouldn't call it group of death per se (doesn't really fit my definition of it) but it's awkward for him in particular. sOs who he never ever wants to play (and especially now that he's struggling with Protoss so much) and SpeCial who he practices and shares builds with a lot.

I think if he had the choice this isn't the group he'd like to be in but other people might like it. Let's just say that.

Yeah ok, not going to disagree with you on that. But certainly very tricky for him.

It's really important that he makes it though. he'll get his PartinG award if he makes Ro16. And if it wasn't for that damn group of death last year he would be getting an award named after himself by advancing to the Ro8 for the tenth time in a row

That was the worst he's played in a GSL group stage in at least 5 years. Blizzcon chances this year are very bad now and we won't see him at GSL vs the World either because he doesn't have a chance in popularity vote against Inno anyway. So I guess he can now be a streamer and Olimoleague regular because he doesn't have anything to do until July.

That's not even exaggerating. Never seen him make so many mistakes, from the supply blocks to army movement, and I really don't get the way he chose to play either. How the hell did he not beat ragnarok? And sOs was clearly having an off day too.

He didn't look sick or anything. What is going on? I'm starting to wonder if he's just not motivated anymore. Maybe he just wants to do something else with his life now.

Brian is his English teacher, actually.

They did this before, Brian translates TY's commentary on the builds he's teaching.

I dunno. He lost to herO in Master's Coliseum qualifiers after a reverse sweep this week and today he lost to Solar 3-5 in a series where he didn't win a single macro game.

I can't really say he's playing poorly either, I think he actually played really well for the most part (his late game looks nice but Terran late game is always on a knife's edge when it comes to just suddenly dying). I think he's looking better than in GSL (Ro32 and Ro8 last season) again. But it's not coming together as well as it used to in the last few years either.

That skyterran game on king's cove really seemed to show that the strategy is unusable right now. Solar just said "okay let's do it" and made a million corruptors. Maybe terran needs splash against air. In the bio macro games, even if TY wasn't playing perfectly, it's hard to see what he's supposed to do really. Maybe his ghost control is not to good right now. But then again, hard to use ghosts against broodling/fungal/ling/bane swarming in.

I think it's pretty clear that the current imbalances against terran a particularly bad for TY considering his playstyle.

Late game is pretty hard because of the anti-air options, definitely. Liberators do no damage to corruptors. Vikings require a ton of attention because they lose a straight-up fight against other air to air units if you don't kite ultra well and are so vulnerable to the splash spells that are readily available to both Protoss and Zerg. Ghosts are great in terms of damage output but you need a lot of them and the opportunity to use them without losing them or getting the snipes cancelled.

Also the entirety of Terran anti-air except for missile turrets (technically) is weak to infestors (though I suspect infestors are also the reason Protoss players avoid late game PvZ if they can).

At least watching those games against Solar and herO kinda felt like watching TY again. Really don't have any desire to see him all-in like he's Maru every game anymore.

I think you describe it very well. In a way it kinda said it all when on King's Cove Solar attacked on top of a million turrets with his corruptors and still beat TY's sky army convincingly.

But yeah, it looks like TY. The excessive usage of nukes also seems like a good strategy if one can afford it. When nukes are used simultaneously all over the place for eco-harass as well as army zoning as well as creep-clearing, it becomes exceedingly difficult for the Zerg player to keep track of where the hell they are landing. There were a couple of times when Solar almost did some nuke-eating of Scarlettesque proportions

I feel like there was at least one time where Solar moved his entire army out of the way of a massive nuke by accident without even knowing where the nuke was going to land.
