Trap just came off of dismantling Innovation...TY probably made a judgement call to not go too vanilla
Kairos Junction wasn't that great imo
+ Show Spoiler +Trap made tons of mistakes like not destroying the rocks that siege tank can abuse, and leaving like 20 probes sitting around by accident. end result was that TY barely won
Overall both players didnt play as well as they normally do, and it resulted in a close series

I agree this serie was a let down and that last game was just sad to watch.

Welp, not a good GSL for the 94 fam

I fucking knew that TY won't be able to surpass his ro8 curse... Welp, thinking he's gonna fade away just like ByuN...

TY has been the most consistent Terran of the past 3 years unlike ByuN who had a short but intense peak. Not to mention TY made it past top 8 in the last 2 Code S so I don't know where this is all coming from all of a sudden.

Thanks for the heads up, I may just skip it altogether. Was really hoping to see him take Trap to the lategame.
Hopefully Blizzard has done something about the matchup before next season.

I don't like Maru, but that was a much more pleasant viewing experience and all around higher class from both participants. Much closer to what I was hoping TY could perhaps bring to the table with 2-ish weeks of prep.

TY lost the first 4 games straight (and thus the series), then won the last 3. And all 7 games took about 1 hour combined.

Agree about TY’s games from the weekend. Awkward strategic choices led to awkward situations and wonky timings. I know TY isn’t confident with the current balance, but IMO Trap would have let him play standard enough games and utilise the kind of macro and multitasking that’s let him be so consistent, whatever the meta, for over 3 years. They are also so interesting to watch and his tempo and tech switches are usually good. He is more adaptive and reactive and doesn’t do things such as build a bunch of vikings only to find out he’s against disrupters.
I’m glad he came back, but I thought game 5 was a let down. His engagement was not well managed, but I’m not sure if it would have worked anyway. It seemed like Trap was perfectly fine with exactly that sort of push, given how hard he was going for zealots rather than a late game army. It’s annoying GSLs are so few and far between...I remember the days of Nestea when they were nearly monthly.
On a side note, pheonixes in the early game seem to cause TY trouble from time to time (starting from when pheonixes and adepts used to be a thing). I thought the game where he had a couple of vikings he was zoning them out better than when he splits his marines and mines.

Yeah that sounds exactly like the kind of heartbreaking TY series we have come to know so well - even if this time he did not play with honour himself. Think I'm just going to skip it altogether
Hope next season starts soon. I don't suppose we're going to see TY put a lot into the super tournament.

ST on Monday, Code S on Friday/Saturday. Super Tournament will be on from 18th to 21st, Code S will probably be back at the end of April or beginning of May.
I also have no expectations for TY when it comes to the ST. Definitely not his playground.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I don't expect much either. Hope he's not in too shitty a mood for the qualifiers.
Btw how do we go about making Afreeca do Bo7 Ro8 from now on?!

Well big shock, TY didn't make it to the ST even with a relatively easy bracket. But he's joined in qualifier hell by every Code S caliber Terran in Korea except for Gumiho and Maru this time.

Losing twice to Hurricane, these are dark days. Unbelieveable that blizzard has let this Tvp go on for so long, and showing now sign of wanting to fix it.

TY should be able to take a series off of Hurricane regardless of the state of balance. That he didn't says more about the quality of his play than anything else.

The issue is that Maru can dismantle Protosses in Code S. We see what Classic will bring to the finals, but Maru v Dear...
Anyway, sad for TY

Are there any vods of the qualifiers ?

Hurricane does do well time to time, especially in qualifiers/offline tourneys. To be honest, TY could even have lost to Bunny in the lower bracket and I wouldn't be too surprised either, it happens.
But yea, it's sad anyway
