I think the reason HerO is so good right now is that since the release of SC2 he had a unique style of play and he stuck with it, this meant that in the earlier stages of SC it was quite weak. I remember watching him in beta when he was one of the only protosses using warp prism to harass with immortals/colossi.

It's really great seeing the same style after such a long time dominating ^^ HerO fighting !!

I'll admit I didn't really know much about HerO before he joined Liquid. I'm an incompetent protoss but ever since his first stream session I was hooked, the level of play was just something else and I was excited about the potential of such a great player. It took a while for him to see results but I never doubted his potential, it was always just a matter of time and a bit of luck.

I also believe he has grown as a player after joining team liquid. He was undeniable an extremely talented player at the oGs house, but he somehow did not perform at his best when it really mattered. He said himself in interviews, that it was a mentality issue that held him back for so long. It is also not easy to conquer these issues, when his only opportunity was at the GSL and a couple of online tournaments. Joining TL was probably the best thing that could ever happen to him. He got the best of two worlds, the familiar and strict training regime of the oGs, and the support from one of the best foreign teams. With TL came the support of his new team mates and more exposure. It kind of snowballed from there, and as so many have said before, it was just a matter of time before HerO would start winning tournaments.

I would really like to thank Nazgul and TheWind for thinking of what would be the best for HerO, and letting him join TL

For certain he has grown since joining Liquid, but I think a large part of what helped is exposure - HerO didn't get much in the way of results in Korea prior to joining Liquid and never had many opportunities to show his talent. Outside of GSL there aren't many ways to make a name for yourself in Korea. If you read his biography on TLPro it sounds very similar to the time he spent as a BW practice partner and that he had doubts it was going to be a repeat of that in SC2. Liquid gave him many more opportunities to shine in tournaments, exposed his talent with his stream and helped grow his fan base immensely. It's that support and opportunity that has allowed him to shine as a player and start to win tournaments.

Yeah, it seems like Liquid trusted hero's skill, giving him the opportunity to travel around the world for various international tournaments while, most of the time, we only see well known korean players (Boxer, Bomber, MVP, Dongraegu). And that trust is paying off right now with dreamhack and now that amazing NASL run (lol Sen, sorry bro, but HerO is something else).

HerO was always good.. he was just very nervous and would fail at tournaments. Seems like that's completely turned around, and he'll be a force for a while.

compLexity fanboy!!! Go NaDa, SangHo, Heart, Minigun / Also love fnatic and vile! Especially ToD, aLive, Moon, SyNc, State, DdoRo, and Yong!! TREME and Avenge are my favorite Korean protosses too!

I don't think that's entirely true( the nervousness part). I still think he's so very nervous, perhaps the heart pulse at dreamhack is a good indicator as well( it got to like 165 at some point). HerO is probably under so much pressure because a lot is expected from him, at least that's what I think.

honestly who would have thought that when huk left liquid, hero was capable of filling his shoes yet even outdo him within a short time frame.

I think this is so true, and its happifying-- joining liquid and gaining a fanbase and a huge support network that was enabled through TL I think must have helped his mental game and development so much-- his fans mean a lot to him, and some people never get over jitters/nerves/pressures of playing on stage or in front of people, so many players never get to realize their full potential for whatever reason...

HerO, good luck winning the NASL, but win or lose, we all love you!

If you enter the NASL grand finals with "Bubble Pop" playing again, I'll buy you dinner next time you're in LA if you do the dance!
