Napoleon certainly wasn't the nicest man to ever live, but he may have been the most talented. He wasn't even French, he was Corsican, joined the French military after the French revolution and then rose through the ranks to take become a General, then became Emperor of France and then he took over Europe. He literally was a self made Emperor of all Europe (except Britain), and this wasn't during ancient times, this was only 200 years ago. He was so far ahead of his peer at the time that through his sheer will he conquered the western world. He may not have been nice, but he was great. Stephano is also "self-made" in the SC2 sense Stephano conquered Europe and made himself KING :D Stephano has a regal air about him Stephano controls his army like a great general Stephano is French, but also not French (like Napoleon) Napoleon is a big name to live up to though..... so I say we call him the Little General until he wins the GSL.... then he will claim his thrown.

Stephano's parents are immigrants from Tunisia, where the people are nothing like French ethnically and racially. What ethnicity is Stephano? Arab 2) Napoleon was a dictator, a warmonger, and a mass murderer. Stephano is not. 3) Napoleon got his ass kicked by the Russians, who apparently kick the asses of all the bad guys who have the most powerful militaries in a given era, and got chased back to Paris and then failed and got kicked out of his country. Stephano has not gotten his ass horribly kicked in SC2 so badly that the shame and hatred against him would force him to leave Mill and progaming. I'm just glad that at least Nazi Germany and Germany overall was demonized to hell, or else people would be calling some insanely good German player as Hitler or Bismarck or something O_o. All he needs to do is avoid large macro maps with snow on them. Large map or small map, snow or no snow, you aren't beating the Russians. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ On October 29 2011 01:32 SnoWhiTe wrote: And he did great things for french people. And Stalin's industralization and transformation of USSR into the 2nd most powerful country in the world by WW2 in the span of a decade and whose leadership are the reasons why you folks in France aren't hailing the Iron Cross daily (the war was already in the process of being won by the USSR by the time British and US soldiers set foot in France; in any case, the point is had the USSR easily fallen to Germany, Germany would have had a field day with the rest of the world). But you wouldn't try to justify these people like you do with Napoleon, now would you?

I know it isn't really comparable, but they do call Goody the Panzer General - not Nazi, but similar reference to history.

The Germans had the best armor in the war until '43. The only other nation that came anywhere near them or better at any point were the Soviets. Panzer General is a great compliment. Denying the power of the German military and the discipline and courage of their soldiers is absolutely foolhardy. They had no equal, although closely followed by the Soviets. The Soviets' advantage was in superior organization and strategy, and it's a damn good thing they beat the Germans. Well, I wasn't referring to Goody's nickname. I'm just saying that if hypothetically there was some super amazing German player, and had Germany not been demonized to hell with all sorts of shit after WW2, people would probably be calling that player "Hitler" or "Bismarck" or "Barbarossa", if we're considering political leaders heavily involved in military leadership. I'm just pointing out the inconsistency in the actual scenario *shrug face*.

The Soviet's advantage was in mass. but lets not turn this into that kind of discussion Stephano ftw! Finally someone has ultimately proven that ladder DOES matter. One just has to consider that the win-loss ratio is more important than the ranking.

But you wouldn't try to justify these people like you do with Napoleon, now would you? I would. Because that's history, and it's not black or white. That's what I was saying by telling that Napoelon can't be reduce to a mass murder. You can't use a portion of what he did to describe him. And like I said earlier, we're not here to make some history argument. So I suppose we stop talking about this, it will be better for everyone. ![]()
