Too much travel takes its toll, and I know he says he doesn't need much practice to be good, but that's too little right now. Fortunately, Korea is around the corner so the timing isn't that bad. Yeah, HerO is a huge challenge for him in great form, and he isn't in great form. I said that one day, the music is going to end for Stephano - is this going to be that day? Are you implying that if Stephano loses to Hero his career is over -- or that he's no longer an elite player? It's idiotic to suggest that a loss to Hero would imply some sort of failing on the part of any Zerg. DRG just got spanked by Hero in the IPL imports tournament so perhaps, if you're suggesting that losing to Hero means you're done, you should alert DRG's fans to the fact that "music has ended" for DRG, if you haven't already. Also, since you're not a fan of Stephano, why do you bother posting in this fanclub?
By the sycophantic definition of fandom, I am not a fan of any player, because I refuse to be a sychophant who gives players a pass whenever they lose / make mistakes, and who over hypes them at the cost of objectivity. Yet, I do think I am a fan of Stephano, because I have a special attachment to his play and character and will tune in to events that he attends specifically to watch him play and to root for him - which is the better definition of fandom, in my opinion. But whether you think I'm a fan, it has no bearing on posting in the fanclub because the way TL fanclubs operate, they are discussion threads for individual players, and because what I'm saying is specific to Stephano, it belongs nowhere else.
With that out of the way, I am not saying that if Stephano loses to HerO his career is over. Rather, I am musing on whether this is going to be the beginning of a slump for Stephano. His refusal to practice ZvZ - and inability to practice hard towards addressing his weaknesses - was bound to bite him, and I have been observing declines in his play from about 2-3 months prior. Presently speaking, I don't think he's ready for HerO, and failing in the first round of NASL is not going to do well for his confidence. Furthermore, with no time in between NASL finals, IEM quals, and MLG Summer Arena, he won't have an opportunity to regain his form after it.
It has all the setup of an incoming slump period, and with it the end of his reputation of being the best NA / EU player. That is what I'm talking about when I say that the music is ending - Stephano gets a pass in a lot of areas because he is the best NA / EU player. He is able to, for example, forfeit tournaments repeatedly without losing his sponsorship, and without tournament organizers banning him from their events. When he streams, he is able to get >9000 viewers. All of this is because he is the best, and that is the reputation he has to maintain for the music and the parties to continue.

Azarkon seems to be on point with this one. Maybe slightly over exaggerated. All the players, even the famous ones, hold nothing against him after all he does, he dominated when zerg was supposed to be struggling, now, when they're supposed to be dominating, he isn't posting THE best results (still great results, like demolishing wcs france, for that matter). I doubt he can win Hero by just randomly strolling into a tournament at this point and time. A not-so-long time ago, he would be the clear favorite. Now - I'd say Hero's somewhat the favorite, though he isn't playing the mid-allin-ish type of toss that stephano has been struggling with.
He has gone a little downhill over a period of time, and I, aswell as Azarkon, simply believe that the point is reached where it'd be bad to get more downhill. When you say Stephano, you don't think of "oh, that guy who scores in the top 8 normally", you mean the guy who destroys opponents besides a few, who have a good style against his.

Stephanos tweet to Hasu is now the topic of an almost 300 comments big reddit thread haha...

Azarkon, you've been complaining about his in-game mistakes since start of MLG Spring Arena 2 and 15 Korean scalps and $22,000 later you are still beating this drum. I think it is fair to say, you are a bit of a pessimist!
Why not wait until he hits a slump before wailing and gnashing your teeth over Stephano getting into a slump?

Men...You never joke like this? Like if you were a stupid guy? I do it every day with my collegues (a jew, 2 white atheists, a muslim).
It's funny to be politicaly incorrect when you know that the other will be and won't be upset because he knows you're kidding. It's just a very good way to have mockeries about narrow minded haters. The more it's stupid, the more it's funny .
No drama. Just a special sens of humor based on clichés. When it's shared, it's cool. Keep cool like they are guys. Keep it in the context of friends having private jokes, there nothing more behind this.

You dont get it. Once again everybody gets that this is a joke and Hasu is not offended.
Again once again you should not twitter stuff like this regardless because literally everybody can read that stuff and I think that is not to hard to wrap your head around that fact. The guy has to accept he is a public figure.
When you see your friend, do you yell "Hey you dirty Jew!" so everybody standing nearby can hear it? There is nothing private in a private joke if 25.000 ppl can read it.

So interesting revelation about Stephano negotiating with 3 teams. Anyone speculate on the mystery team? Mouz? Complexity?

What don't you understand about his "I don't give a fuck" face on his stream and during tourneys? He does what he wants without caring too much if people don't understand who he is. I don't think anyone really believes steph is a nazi or hates jews.

Hmmm, Wheat just tweeted me saying the mystery team is Gamma Bears. Not sure if he is guessing or in the know.

Errr actually the thing is, the more people see it and get confused, the funnier it is; I agree though, tweeting it probably isn't the best of ideas, but I don't care. It's like how Americans go apeshit if someone says *drumroll* THE N WORD. It's going too far, I can understand they're more sensitive to that, but it's still stupid.
Anyway, this is not the topic to be discussing this. Go Stephano! I'm so sad he's not in TSL4. :<

Hum i think mouz is the most logical >need an ace non korean (and european), friends with Hasu and Mana... Teamliquid has too many zergs but for now who cares! and Complexity, not really... ,p

be careful with that jokes about jews and germans

Don't you agree that he feels not nearly as dominant as he once did when you see him play? He still has great micro and pulls off amazing engagements, but overall it seems like everyone improved and he stagnated. The zerg buff balanced that out a bit, but I feel that with more (and more focused) training, he'd be on a completely different level compared to where he is now.
|
The guy beat in the last tourneys: MC Ganzi(twice) Violet Keen Squirtle PartinG Ryung Heart Puma Polt Alicia JYP all those players are code S caliber, so i don't see where is his "slump" coming from, and i'm fairly confident that he'll do very well in NASL(not MLG since there are a lot more zergs there and his ZvZ isn't good at all). However, i do believe that the recent patch helped others improve their play, but not him(you don't see him go for the 6 queen build as every other zerg does).
@Azakron: I don't think anyone would argue that Stephano isn't the best foreigner anymore, he's far above all other foreigners that eventhough he starts playing worse, he still got a fair margin compared to others.
