I don't understand why Stephano picked Ryung (if i am correct : top 15 seed by order pick their first opponent http://s3.majorleaguegaming.com/2012-springarena2-starcraft2.html# ) while there was much easier opponents for him like Idra or Grubby. Only Stephano knows why he picked Ryung. Maybe he will reveal his reasons in an interview - it seems something an interviewer could ask a player. I think the Spring Arena 2 is pretty stacked with tough opponents so no matter the opposition it is going to be a challenge to win. The picks were done a day or so ago at most.

He has almost a 76% win rate in international events in tvz. I haven't been following him lately but he's certainly good enough to give Stephano problems and better at tvz than either Idra or Ret is at zvz. Stephano probably just didn't want to play a zvz. Yeah, he's losing a lot of ZvZs these days - to Nerchio, to Zenio, and doesn't feel comfortable in the match up. ZvP is okay for him, but with Grubby being picked by Oz, ZvT is the next best option. I think Oz is going to regret picking Grubby, though.

Some interesting opponents. He has beaten Violet and Illusion before but never faced Ganzi. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=332841

But he seems to be doing reasonably well, no matter how few games he plays before tournaments, so it should be okay. It just makes you wonder how much better his results could be. On the other hand, terrible preparation might be his secret strategy for success.

How can you play D3 instead of sc2 when your are flying to NYC to attend an mlg arena later this week. He really deserves to get crushed this time around and I think it would be a valuable lesson for him and help his future results too. Sadly he will still place pretty high because he is just too good and I will still be cheering for him :/

Naniwa said that Stephano doesn't give a sh*t and that's why he's able to play without mental problems. It's not the ideal solution - the ideal solution is to practice hard and to have a great mindset - but it's what allows Stephano to play well with less practice.

It's pretty awesome if so. I think Stephano has the best multitasking of any zerg, so perhaps that was one of the things about Stephano's play that impressed him.

It looks like he was playing around 5-15 games a day. He had a similar practice schedule leading up to IPL4 and it turned out all right, so who knows -- although his play clearly benefits from practice and suffers from a lack of practice, notwithstanding his claims to the contrary. As an aside, I'll add that it doesn't bode well for his future as a doctor (or anything else for that matter) if he has trouble maintaining even a three hour a day practice schedule for a video game . . .

It's true his results in the two most recent online tournaments he won were pretty damn impressive, IMO, even if there were just foreigners there. He also won the MLG qualifier. His only misstep recently was losing 2-0 to Zenio, who is one of the best zvz players in the world. From his perspective, he's probably like, if it ain't broke, don't fix it (which isn't unreasonable). I would also love to see him buy a ticket on the Korean "pain train"; alas, I think he's already bought his first class luxury ticket on the EU express, which runs three hours a day, on a good day, and does not punish its passangers with hard work ![]()

I know that right after his one week vacation he won the mlg invite only qualifiers and the other mini tour but he is pushing his luck with that amount of practice.
