He has a rich commentating experience from ESL.tv where he commentated a variety of games, mostly Quake and WoW. Before being a commentator he was a pretty decent Quake player, later commentator.

He played some Q3 for UK TDM team, but didn't come to prominence until Quake 4 where he was on Fnatic and at one point the best player in the UK, and one of the top 8 players in the world, qualifying for the WSVG World Finals in 2006. As well as playing in the QuakeCon 2006 2v2 finals with teammate Blue against Toxic and Ztrider.
During the WSVG 2007 season, 2GD started casting Quake with Joe and Slasher and playing less, even playing WoW 3v3 competitively with VoO and Ztrider. WSVG came to a sudden halt and shutdown during 2007, and Jay went to work for ESL, casting Quake and WoW in the Intel Extreme Masters for 2-3 years. He and ESL parted ways in 2010, and he is now the Community Manager of Stunlock Studios, the guys behind Bloodline Champions. Still casts Quake and does hosting stuff with Dreamhack because they're awesome.

Wonderful play-by-play caster and master of ceremonies. Doesn't take it overly seriously but knows when to ask the right questions of the analytical caster too. SC2 needs to get this guy on board for more shit.
Sign me up. Used to watch some of the wow stuff he did a few years back, he was amazing back then and amazing now. I actually didn't watch most of the WCG games but still had the stream on for the sound, he and TLO made a good team (but then again 2gd + anyone / anything would make a good team).

Thanks, added everything to the OP. Didn't go to deep into his history since everything I know is mostly hearsay before I started following his WoW casts.
Really liked the WCG stream. It got a little annoying that he mentioned that they wern't being payed like 50 times.. It's not like they're forced to be there, so if you don't want to, just walk right out. Apart from the whine everything was great though. Really lifted up the spirits, and made me laugh alot. Great play by play caster, and it works well with the think tank in TLO Would be cool to see him with Artosis, although Artosis would probably get frustrated pretty quickly ^^
For those of you who don't know this guy, check out some quakelive casts of tournaments (IEM etc) he's a top guy who is obviously deeply passionate about eSports, if he ever decides to learn sc2 and become a caster i've no doubt he would rival tastosis alone, the guy is hillarious.
did 2gd change his name to hell in the last year or so of quake4? I seem to remember him watching him play and he was the fastest at movement in q4 but still couldnt touch toxic cos rail > all

He is an average SC2 commentator but awesome in pretty much every other way. Convinced he was the only reason WoW arena stayed a viable e-sport for any length of time.

the way he runs of his mouth with whatever comes to mind is pretty much why he's a great caster, this sort of stuff apparently happens to :/
i like his style way better than the more usual "everything so great, so good" and that sort of stuff. He's like tastless and artosis but way rougher, he thinks of a joke and it goes, sometimes leading to awkward moments but always to great casts really. He's my favorite caster by far pretty much. He was dissing esl all the time he worked there as well as making fun of himself, he's just like that.

I really enjoyed and was looking forward to more 2GD commentary on the MLG event. And they boot him for some joke during technical difficulties.
All I want to say is... keep on providing the funny and skillful commentary we expect and love from you, 2GD! Corporations that can't have the least bit of self distancing aren't worth to have you on.
Absolutely horrible call by MLG to boot 2GD. In the end it will bite them in their arse for doing something that stupid. Have they no humour and self-distance?

Not really blaming the castes, I'd probably be exactly like that myself making sure not to offend anyone. There's a reason I like the day9 dailies of his own play the most, He doesn't hold anything back and just says it like it is.
That is also what 2gd does (and tastosis sometimes do) but the thing is it's not restricted by anything, he's not afraid of offending people people for better or worse. Although come to think about it I don't really ever recall him offending or ragging on anybody, tastosis are way more guilty of that if anything (liveforever not belonging in masters while playing their loverboy leenock comes to mind).

Like Dreamhack did when TLO and 2GD had that amazing WCG qualifier cast and made fun of the organisers and everything in the studio. Much "harsher" (but totally harmless) jokes on DH's expense than the small jab at MLG I've seen in that video snippet. It's important to keep a sense of humour and that you can take a certain amount of self-depreciation in this situation, imo.
He's always bashing on everyone, what the hell did MLG expect when they hired him? If you hire him, you have to accept every part of his casting, including the trash talking.
You get the feeling that they haven't seen him cast before...

You havn't heard anything he's done have you? And neither has MLG obviously. This is what you PAY for when you get this guy. If you watched the Sweden WCG qualifier with 2GD and TLO, it was basically 20% of 2GD talking shit about his employers and demanding cookies, but in a very hilarious british manner. Plus he was with TLO and towards the end they got really gay for eachother. This guy is a genius when it comes to making a crowd feel into it. If MLG don't like him it's their loss. Read the LR of the WCG and DH STHLM invitational if you don't believe me. People were crying to get this man on more SC2 events.
Edit: And trust me. The small kick he gave MLG (for fucking skype crashing. Come on have they no self esteem?) is nothing compared to the shit talk he did about WCG.

it became a bit akward between 2gd and TB with the wife jokes, a bit too much. I could tell he was in an akward spot when TB looked rather disapproving, but love them both. 2GD is well spoken and in most cases good sense of humour!

I love the guy and everything he's done so far. Totally fell in love during the Stockholm invitational and the Swedish WCG qualifiers. If DH Valencia was the first you saw of 2gd, I'd highly recommend checking out those two. Especially the WCG one with TLO. They're just too awesome together. For some reason I really crack up and kind of feel involved in the discussions they have too. It's so relaxed and natural so to speak. Yeeah it was awesome.

"Dwarf" originated in one of the 2GD show episodes, the second one I think, where he talked about the Asus esports manager being short. "call the X" originated in the first episode. You should watch that one.

I'm so incredibly psyched for this project. I have a lot of faith in 2GD and the people he's working with to make a genuinely good and new feeling arena FPS, which is something the FPS esports community sorely needs.

100% agree, so great to see a guy not constantly trying to be politically correct to please the sponsors or "not hurt e-sports", while he probably has the biggest e-sports heart of them all. And he's indeed quite funny too =)

A lot of the first part is about Quake and his time as a Quake pro but most of the rest is him giving his theories on a number of more general esports topics (dumbing/watering down of games, future of esports titles in terms of genre, practice vs. dedication etc.)
Didn't really like yesterdays show though. Bit uninspired. So much happened the past month, but I had the feeling they ignored most of it or skipped over it very fast. They should clone 2gd so he can do gdshow properly, make a new fps, rts and moba and host or have a couch at every tournament. Feels like the guy got a bit too many projects atm.

Its was nota real show, only a "meeting" which is focused on the developement of the studio and the way they operate their business. The real shows where they would discuss things like dreamhack are the one with Hellspawn and Newman.
Yeah 2GD did a very good job at the international. For my taste it was too much business smile, professional sport desk, but I do understand why Mr. Harding would rather err on the side of caution this time...
